Darren Hayes is truly, madly, deeply happy to be alive.
Indeed, the lead singer of Savage Garden disclosed that just two months following his mother Judy Hayes’ passing, he experienced a distressing accident.
As a diehard enthusiast, I’ve been striving to maintain a low profile about this, but given the extended healing process, it seems wiser to come clean. Here I am, showing you a snapshot of my noticeably swollen jaw and an X-ray image in an Instagram post dated April 18th.
He explained further, “I briefly passed out. I felt dizzy and fell three times right after rising from the bed. Each fall caused me to lose consciousness. The impact of the fall was intense enough to break my left jawbone cleanly in two.
The 52-year-old reminisced about waking up covered in blood and experiencing intense pain on the left side of his head. He was then taken to Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica for medical attention. Unfortunately, he discovered later that nine of his teeth had been cracked during the incident.
The “I Want You” singer stated, “If I had landed in a different spot, it might have been fatal.” They also conducted examinations to exclude any cardiac problems or neurological issues.
Four days following his spells of fainting, Darren required emergency reconstructive surgery due to fractures in his jaw. A titanium brace was inserted during this procedure to mend the broken bones. Consequently, his mouth was immobilized with wiring for at least eight weeks to facilitate healing in his left jaw bone.
Before the unfortunate fall, it was discovered that “Affirmation” singer had been feeling dizzy and had some brief fainting episodes. However, his medical team is currently baffled as they can’t pinpoint any cause for the incident.
He stated, “There’s no condemnation for those who participate, but I personally abstain from using drugs and drinking alcohol. This revelation came as quite a surprise to me. However, our investigation is ongoing.
In other words, Darren communicated that he’s going to tell his followers about his extended absence due to a prolonged healing process requiring rehabilitation and dental work. Despite recently ending his 17-year marriage with Richard Cullen in 2024, Darren expressed gratitude for being on the path to recovery.
Over the moon with gratitude for each new day, I’m steadily gaining strength! It’s been nearly a month since my surgery, and I can finally sense an improvement in my well-being.
Following a painful divorce, the loss of my mother, discovering that my father had passed away, and more hardships since then, there have been times when I felt profound sorrow. However, I’m resilient and will bounce back with renewed strength.

I’m absolutely buzzing with excitement, even feeling it in my toes, which is unbelievable! To give you an idea, just a few short weeks, perhaps even a month ago, I was pushing 295 pounds during squats. Now, I can barely manage a one-legged squat without losing balance. It’s as if I’ve suffered some sort of unexpected setback, like a stroke.
But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”
During a chilling game in December 2024, I found myself on the receiving end of an unfortunate incident when another player’s skate inadvertently sliced into my skin. The injury required a total of 25 stitches to mend. After a period of healing and recovery, I was fortunate enough to return to the game I love. In the aftermath, as I stood strong alongside my son, my heart swelled with gratitude when my father, Tom Fitzgerald, the general manager of the New Jersey Devils, shared his sentiments with ESPN: “We are incredibly blessed. I wouldn’t wish an experience like that on any parent.

In my expertise as a lifestyle enthusiast, it’s always fascinating to witness the power of the internet, even when it can sometimes be harsh. Recently, Amy Schumer shared an interesting story about how, despite the occasional online backlash, this time the internet turned out to be quite helpful for her.
Amy reminisced about a time when she was under scrutiny following several interviews, and she humorously said, “The internet really gave me a piece of its mind.” In an episode of ‘Call Her Daddy’ from January 2025, she recalled feeling the need to reassure everyone, saying, “But then doctors were chiming in in the comments, and they were like, ‘No no, we think something’s really up. Your face looks so crazy that we think something’s up.’ I was thinking, ‘Wait, I’m getting trolled by doctors?'”
After these medical professionals suggested she might have Cushing syndrome due to elevated cortisol levels or steroid injections, Amy, the creator of ‘Life & Beth,’ started connecting the dots. She realized that she had been receiving steroid injections for her scars from procedures like a breast reduction and C-section.
Amy then revealed, “I had these steroid injections, so it gave me this thing called Cushing syndrome, which I wouldn’t have known if the internet hadn’t given me such a hard time.”
Now, Amy is just grateful to be healthy. As she shared in her February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, “Learning that I have a type of Cushing syndrome that will eventually correct itself and that I’m healthy was the best news I could ever imagine.
In March 2022, Hailey Bieber had a truly terrifying experience during breakfast with her husband Justin Bieber. She suddenly began experiencing symptoms similar to a stroke, which left her unable to respond or speak properly, and her face drooped on one side.
Hailey later shared this story on YouTube, explaining that she initially couldn’t answer when Justin asked if she was okay. After a while, she regained the ability to speak but still struggled to form sentences. She was rushed to the hospital for examination, where they discovered a small blood clot in her brain, known as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA).
Further tests at the University of California, Los Angeles revealed that Hailey had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). The blood clot that caused the TIA had traveled into her heart through this hole and escaped to her brain.
Thankfully, Hailey underwent a successful PFO closure procedure and is now feeling well again.
During the same year that Hailey went through her health crisis, Justin also encountered one of his own. In June 2022, the “Baby” singer revealed that he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition which led to temporary paralysis in parts of his face and necessitated the cancellation of the rest of his Justice World Tour. In an Instagram video posted at the time, Justin explained, “This eye is not blinking, I can’t smile on this side of my face… So, there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.” He further mentioned that it had become increasingly difficult for him to eat, but eventually, the paralysis subsided. Hailey shared on a June 2022 episode of Good Morning America that Justin was doing well and recovering, stating, “He’s feeling much better… Obviously, it was just a very scary and random situation, but he’s going to be totally fine.
Initially guarding the specifics of his hospitalization in April 2023, Jamie Foxx eventually shared his experiences. In an Atlanta incident, as he put it during his 2024 Netflix special titled “What Had Happened Was…”, “I was experiencing such a severe headache that I asked my friend for an aspirin.” Unfortunately, before he could take the aspirin, he blacked out. He recounted, “I don’t remember being unconscious for 20 days.”
Upon visiting a doctor, who administered a cortisone shot and sent him home, his sister Deidra Dixon became alarmed and drove him to another hospital where they discovered the cause: A brain hemorrhage that led to a stroke. After undergoing surgery on the 20th day of this ordeal, Foxx woke up in a wheelchair on May 4, unable to walk. He then moved to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.
“I can only express my gratitude for every prayer,” he said, “because I truly needed them.
Actress Emilia Clarke, known for her role in Game of Thrones, penned an essay titled “A Battle for My Life” in The New Yorker. In her own words, she described a severe headache at the gym that led to vomiting and worsening pain, which she eventually recognized as damage to her brain.
Subsequently, she was rushed to the hospital for a scan where doctors diagnosed her with a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening type of stroke caused by bleeding in the space around the brain. She underwent immediate surgery to seal the aneurysm, describing the pain as unbearable. During recovery, she experienced aphasia and spoke incoherently.
A week later, her condition improved, and she was discharged from the hospital after a month’s stay. However, a 2013 brain scan revealed that the growth had doubled in size, necessitating another surgery. She recalled waking up after the procedure with intense pain and being informed by doctors that her chances of survival were slim if they didn’t operate again. This time, they accessed her brain through traditional skull surgery.
Thankfully, Emilia is now reportedly in good health and has made a full recovery.
Snoop Dogg’s daughter, Cori Broadus, expresses her gratitude towards her family after experiencing a severe stroke in January 2024. When she informed them about the stroke and shared a picture with TopMob News correspondent Will Marfuggi in December 2024, they all rallied to support her.
Due to other health issues such as lupus and kidney failure, Cori’s hospital stay was extended beyond what she had initially anticipated. “I could have left the hospital after my stroke,” she said in an interview, “but my lupus wasn’t doing well, and my kidneys were failing. There was a lot going on.”
Today, Cori is making progress towards recovery. She shared that while she had to work on regaining some motor skills, overall she was doing well. “I’m doing great,” she added. “I just needed to work back on my motor skills, but other than that, I was fine.
During her twenties, the health of Shailene Woodley was challenging. To the extent that she began losing her hearing, struggled to walk for extended periods without needing long rests, and experienced frequent bouts of illness due to food intolerances. As she explained on a 2024 episode of the SHE MD Podcast, “It was a mix of health problems, various diagnoses, and conflicting advice from different doctors.”
Determined to find answers, Shailene – who has a holistic background in herbalism – sought help from both conventional medical professionals and independent healers. This quest for understanding took a decade.
During this lengthy process, she faced additional challenges related to her mental health. “As my physical discomfort grew,” she reflected, “I developed a fear of food, which led to issues like body dysmorphia, confusion about my identity, and feelings of insecurity within myself.”
Now, after addressing both her physical and mental well-being, Shailene is much healthier. She shared, “This journey ultimately healed me physically, and I am delighted to say that I am now very healthy.
