As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but empathize with the retired tennis champion. She recently admitted to craving a brief respite from motherhood duties for her adorable 7-year-old daughter, Olympia, who she cherishes alongside her husband of seven years, Alexis Ohanian.

In a message sent on X (previously known as Twitter) on April 18, Serena stated, “I’m actually in my car, to be precise. Right now, I’m enjoying the massage seats and secretly avoiding my child.

43-year-old [individual], who is also a parent to a 20-month-old girl named Adira, alongside Alexis, had taken care of child-rearing duties throughout the day. This was because, as they mentioned, “Today is a holiday, and no school” was in session.

Instead of saying “And Serena had no regrets about admitting to sneaking away from her little one,” you could rephrase it as “Serena felt no remorse for leaving her child and was ready to face any backlash that might come from confessing this.” Both sentences convey the same meaning.

“Judge away,” Serena quipped. “I don’t care I need 10 mins.”

The athlete isn’t concerned about potential criticism because she is self-assured about her abilities as a parent.

In an interview with Vogue in 2022, Serena modestly expressed, “I consider myself a fantastic mother.” She continued, “I believe many of us women don’t acknowledge our own strengths enough, but I truly am a great mom. I take on every responsibility. This year, I’m even the room parent at Olympia’s school.

Absolutely, it doesn’t mean she never has difficult days. In fact, in the year 2023, Serena openly discussed her battles with mental health, revealing that she was experiencing a time when she wasn’t coping well.

She went on to say in her post on X, “It’s alright if you’re not feeling great,” she assured. “Nobody is always okay each day. If you aren’t feeling good today, know that I stand with you.

She added, “There’s always tomorrow. Love you.”

Fortunately, Serena is fortunate to have a robust network of support, led by her husband and friends. Notably, her friend Meghan Markle, a frequent exchange partner on culinary and homemaking ideas with the tennis star, is part of this circle.

In a feature for Time’s 100 Most Influential People, published on April 15, Serena expressed something like, “I often ask her, ‘What are your plans today, lady friend?’ To which the Duchess of Sussex replied. We’ve been exchanging cooking ideas since then.
