Hailee Steinfeld Teases Major Updates on Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

There’s been quite a buzz among fans eager for updates on “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse“. Known for voicing Gwen Stacy, Hailee Steinfeld has kept her calendar filled with projects such as Michael B. Jordan’s vampire movie “Sinners”, Netflix’s original animated series “Arcane”, and potentially appearing in “Avengers: Doomsday”. However, when it comes to “Beyond the Spider-Verse”, the third installment of Sony’s Spider-Verse trilogy, a release date of June 4, 2027 has been announced, which is more than two years from now. Given how much can change in such a timeframe, we’re curious to hear what Steinfeld might know about “Beyond the Spider-Verse”.

As a die-hard movie fan, I recently chatted with Hailee Steinfeld about “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse”. When asked about its 2027 release date, she admitted, “If it were my call, I’d rather not keep fans waiting that long.” Regarding her participation in the project, she hinted cryptically, “Well, let’s just say we’ve moved past the initial stages,” and joked that Josh Horowitz, the interviewer, is just as much in the dark about the film as she is – a statement that doesn’t bode well for us eager spectators!

She went on, “You need to have faith in the journey,” she said. “One truth I’ve discovered is this: Hand over your work to these talented individuals, Lord and Miller, and you’ll be left with something extraordinary. So, just let go and trust their process.

The initial plan for the premiere of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, originally set for March 2024, has been moved forward to June 2027, following concerns about working conditions within Sony Pictures Animation. Earlier issues regarding these conditions have subsided, and the team is now focusing on ensuring a 2027 release date. In an interview with ComicBook in 2023, Lord and Miller emphasized their aim to produce the best Spider-Verse film yet.

Lord emphasized that, similar to how we’ll spend as much time as needed to ensure ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’ is fantastic, we won’t compromise on the release date.” Miller agreed with this approach.

Discussions about creating an independent animated film featuring Hailee Steinfeld as Spider-Woman have been circulating. During the Los Angeles premiere of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, producer Amy Pascal mentioned, “You’ll witness it all. It’s on its way.” Producer Avi Arad added that the Spider-Woman animated movie is likely to come out “sooner than you might anticipate. I can’t reveal details yet, but it’s in the works.

A glimpse at “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” was shown during Sony’s presentation at CinemaCon last month. The visuals depicted Miles Morales in conflict with Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who is a Prowler in his world. This Miles has already experienced the loss of his father and has adopted a criminal lifestyle reminiscent of his Uncle Aaron.

In the finale of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”, Gwen Stacy assembled a group of Spider-heroes from various realms of the Spider-Verse with the mission of rescuing Miles Morales, who was left on Earth-42. The urgency was high as Miles needed to return in time to prevent his father’s murder by The Spot.
