DOOM: The Dark Ages’ Next Brutal Trailer Releases During Wrestlemania

Approximately a month from now, “Doom: The Dark Ages” is expected to make its destructive entry on consoles and PCs worldwide. As a prequel to the highly acclaimed 2016 series revival, this third installment delves into the medieval battles waged by the Doom Slayer against the hordes of Hell. The latest offering from id Software is one of the most eagerly awaited games of the year, maintaining the franchise’s distinctive flavor while introducing subtle changes to keep things exciting. Bethesda, both developer and publisher, has announced that the next trailer will be unveiled at WrestleMania, hopefully providing a taste to fans eagerly waiting for the upcoming first-person shooter.

According to a recent update from the official Doom social media account, they’ll be unveiling “Official Trailer 2” for the game “Doom: The Dark Ages” during WrestleMania 41 on its second day (Sunday). To clarify, the full trailer won’t play at the event itself. Instead, a brief promotional clip, known as a TV spot, will debut during WrestleMania. This initial sneak peek will be followed by the online release of the complete trailer for everyone to view. At this time, specifics about the content of the trailer have not been disclosed, but we do have a glimpse of the Doom Slayer in the preview of the upcoming trailer.

The appearance of “Doom: The Dark Ages” at this year’s WrestleMania might appear odd to some, but it actually fits more comfortably than it seems. Twenty years ago, a live-action film adaptation of the popular id Software game was released. This movie featured Karl Urban, Rosamund Pike, Razaaq Adoti, and WWE Legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in its cast. The film was directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak, who has also worked on “Cradle 2 the Grave,” and it was written by David Callaham, known for “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” and Wesley Strick, renowned for “The Man in the High Castle.

Last year during the Xbox Games Showcase, it was unveiled that the third installment in the contemporary Doom series is called “Doom: The Dark Ages.” This upcoming game aims to address the criticisms faced by Doom Eternal upon its release in 2020. Notably, there seems to be a reduction in platforming segments. Instead, it appears that players will dodge and weave around enemy fire on the ground more frequently.

As a passionate gamer, I’ve noticed quite a buzz surrounding the upcoming release of “Doom: The Dark Ages.” However, some enthusiasts aren’t as thrilled, labeling it the “Woke Ages.” Recently, Director Hugo Martin addressed this nickname in a video, hinting at the game’s narrative and design choices that might have sparked this response.

Martin expresses his disagreement with “DOOM: The Woke Ages”. He’s familiar with the content and has observed related videos. He clarifies that the game’s policies, particularly the sliders, needed to benefit both beginners (white belts) and experts (black belts). If they wanted to make the game slower, they should also provide a means to speed it up. In his opinion, this policy was beneficial for all parties involved.

On May 14th, the game “Doom: The Dark Ages” is set to release for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC at a price of $69.99. If you pay $99.99 for the Premium Edition, you’ll get early access two days prior, starting on May 12th. The Premium Edition also includes Campaign DLC when it becomes available, an artbook, soundtrack, and Divinity Skin Pack. Pre-ordering any version of “Doom: The Dark Ages” grants you the Void Slayer skin at no extra cost.
