In the latest trailer for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” there’s a hidden reference (Easter Egg) connected to Marvel’s show, “WandaVision.
In the realms of entertainment, both “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” and “WandaVision” have the same director, Matt Shakman, who showcases his love for vintage and futuristically vintage aesthetics in both productions.
In the series “WandaVision,” Elizabeth Olsen’s character, Scarlet Witch, and Paul Bettany’s character, Vision, are led on a unique voyage through various television eras. On the other hand, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Fantastic Four” is placed in an entirely different Earth, within a universe that mirrors the 60s.
WandaVision Returns In Fantastic Four Trailer Easter Egg
In the fresh trailer for Marvel Studio’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” astute fans will spot an homage to “WandaVision.
Approximately at the 1 hour, 23 minute mark in the trailer, a scene later shows Julia Garner’s character, Silver Surfer, warning the Fantastic Four that their planet is doomed. In the bustling city backdrop, a neon sign can be seen, which reads “Westview.
In addition, Westview is identical to the quaint town in New Jersey where Wanda Maximoff resided and exerted her magical control, often referred to as her hex, in the television series titled “WandaVision“.
In the universe of the Fantastic Four, Westview seems less like a town and more like a shop specializing in goods such as household appliances and televisions.
The acknowledgement towards the medium of television serves as a clever wink to the show “WandaVision“, since it creatively blended various genres, time periods, and TV styles across its episodes.
Does This Easter Egg Mean Anything For Wanda In The MCU?
Over time, various Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) productions, such as Agatha All Along and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, have incorporated elements related to Westview.
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I can’t help but notice the intriguing connection between Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch and the upcoming Fantastic Four film, directed by Matt Shakman. However, his decision to incorporate Westview into the storyline is probably just a clever wink to his previous work within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rather than a hint at a more substantial connection.
In the grand Marvel Cinematic Universe, I found my narrative unfolding in not one but two captivating ways. Firstly, as I journeyed alongside Doctor Strange in the mystical realm of “Doctor Strange 2,” events transpired that ultimately led to what seemed like my untimely end. Secondly, delving deeper into the enigmatic character of Agatha Harkness in “Agatha All Along,” I discovered more about the intricate backstory of my son, Billy, expanding upon our shared tale.
The forthcoming “Vision Quest” show on Disney+, centered around the story of White Vision, who we last saw at the end of “WandaVision,” could potentially pave the way for the return of Wanda Maximoff within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Regarding whether Shakman plans to incorporate any “WandaVision” references, known as Easter Eggs, in “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” enthusiasts can expect to discover this when the movie hits theaters on July 25th.
