Back in the day, getting a demo disc featuring small previews of highly anticipated games was as thrilling as receiving the full game itself. It allowed fans to explore something entirely new without spending too much money upfront. Although those days have passed, demos are still available on platforms like the Microsoft Store and PlayStation Store fairly regularly, although they may not always feature the most eagerly awaited titles as they once did.
It turns out that Sony’s PlayStation Store has been flooded with PS5 demos lately. However, these new additions appear to be the same low-quality games that have long plagued the store. Yet, there’s a twist – these are not just ordinary games, but ones that seem genuinely intriguing and worth trying out, even if only for a brief period. And here’s the kicker: they’re all available free of charge to any PS5 user.
Here are 5 PS5 demos on the PS Store players should check out right now:
Persona 3 Reload
Persona 3 Reload is a fresh version of the highly praised and adored Atlus RPG which was initially launched for the PS2 in 2006. This demonstration enables gamers to experience the start of the game, right up until the first significant boss battle. Our review bestowed a score of 4.5 out of 5 on this remake, suggesting it’s definitely worth experiencing the initial phases free of charge. If players enjoy what they play, progress from the demo will be preserved in the complete game.
In this review, we state that Atlus isn’t aiming to craft the ultimate modern Persona game overall with P3R; instead, they’re focusing on making the best possible remake of Persona 3 by blending elements from the original along with engaging new mechanics and visual enhancements. Consequently, it’s challenging for me to imagine that either novice or experienced fans of Persona 3 won’t be thrilled with Reload.
Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree
Mandragora: Whispers from the Witchwood Tree
This is a tough-as-nails action role-playing game developed by Primal Game Studio and published by Knights Peak. Essentially, it’s a side-scrolling soulslike game set in a grim fantasy realm, which makes it an excellent choice for fans of FromSoftware to explore. Critics on the review aggregator site OpenCritic have given it an average score of 87 from top reviewers.
In this game, you play as an Inquisitor. Instead of fulfilling your role, you’ll choose a different path that could potentially lead to the destruction of Faelduum, as darkness from other realms seeps in through rips in existence. As you traverse towering Crimson City, dark corners filled with decay, and face the horrors of Entropy, the question remains: Who will you transform into at the end of your journey?
Unbeatable
Impeccable is a rhythm action game developed by D-CELL Games and published by Playstack. This game features an anime-inspired art design that will captivate you at first glance. You’ll play as Beat in a world where music has been outlawed, yet she and her band continue to perform illicit shows. Even just the artwork alone makes it worth checking out, particularly in its demo version. For those who enjoy it, the game is scheduled for release this year.
In this exhilarating anime-infused rhythm adventure, you’ll both figuratively dominate on stage and literally demolish it. The game description explains. To play the rhythm part, just master two buttons: one for ‘up’ and another for ‘down’. Sounds straightforward, right? But don’t underestimate the challenge! Keep from getting overwhelmed yourself. Half of the game involves leisurely exploring at your own pace, while the other half requires you to keep up with the fast-paced rhythm.
Metal Eden
The game named “Metal Eden” was unveiled during the PlayStation State of Play event in February. Developed by Reikon Games and published by Deep Silver, it appears to have gameplay reminiscent of “Doom (2016)”. Instead of battling demons on Mars, players will be fighting cybernetic foes in the city of Moebius. This demo showcases the initial two missions of the game, offering a sneak peek into what players can anticipate when it launches this Summer.
In this game, a sophisticated AI unit named ASKA is dispatched on a perilous rescue mission to save the citizen’s vital cores from the colossal city of MOEBIUS, which was initially designed as a promising new home for mankind but has since become a lethal labyrinth. Engage in high-tech warfare against the Internal Defense Corps, face off against the Engineers, and unravel the secrets behind Project Eden.
Star Wars Outlaws
At Star Wars Celebration, Ubisoft unveiled that a demo for their open-world game, Star Wars Outlaws, is now accessible on PS5. The game features the rogue character Kay Vess and her adorable companion Nix. Since it’s received mixed reviews, this demo release offers players an opportunity to experience it firsthand and decide if they find it worth purchasing. Although opinions on quality can vary, the overall reception towards Star Wars Outlaws has been somewhat tepid, both within and outside of the game. Our review awarded it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
In summary, I completed the primary storyline and had a decent amount of adventuring, but I’m already quite eager to fire up Star Wars Outlaws again today to delve deeper into its most engaging aspect – exploration. However, I’m not particularly thrilled about having to replay more of its gameplay.
