Own the Epic ‘Demon Slayer’ Saga in 4K: Ultimate Edition Release Date Confirmed!

Fans worldwide eagerly anticipate the July 18th, 2025 release of “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle.” However, fans in the United States must hold on a bit longer as they will get their hands on the first part of the series only on September 12th. To alleviate this prolonged wait, Studio Ufotable and Crunchyroll are releasing extra content for viewers to savor until then.

Crunchyroll has expanded its collection to include a stage play based on “Demon Slayer”, along with two live concerts. Not only that, but “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train” surpassed the records set by “Spirited Away” domestically and “Your Name” internationally when it was first released, and it’s now preparing for an even more spectacular theatrical comeback. The movie will be shown in Japanese theaters for five consecutive weeks starting May 9th. Fans in Japan have an extra treat as a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray will also be available for purchase at the same time.

Announcing the commercial for the release of “4K Ultra HD Blu-ray” on May 9th (Fri)!

Here are some titles included:

To Know About Demon Slayer’s 4K Blu-Ray

Starting this Friday, May 9th, the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray version of “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train” will go on sale at Aniplex Online, Ufotable, Animate, and other outlets. As per the official site, the limited edition Blu-ray is priced at ¥7,700 (inclusive of tax). It includes a single disc with Japanese subtitles that are easily accessible. Alongside the special box, digital cover, and a 12-page souvenir booklet, this release seems to be tailored primarily for its initial Japanese rollout. Stay tuned for updates regarding a North American localization too!

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that this upcoming Blu-ray marks Aniplex’s 20-year milestone! Not only are they celebrating their anniversary with this release, but they’ve also hinted at re-releasing some of their timeless masterpieces from the past two decades in enhanced quality. Among these anticipated releases is none other than the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray for both the Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training Arcs!

On the very same day as the release of the Mugen Train’s Blu-ray, this exclusive edition will hit the shelves and will retail at ¥14,080 inclusive of tax. The package mirrors the standard edition, containing a two-disc set with subtitles for Japanese dialogue without barriers, a three-sided box, digital cover art, and a 12-page booklet. Additional perks include an animation showcasing Ufotable’s making-of process for “Mitsuri Kanroji & Muichiro Tokito,” a short film titled “Mitsuri’s Uniform,” and a special video edition of “Letter from the Master” labeled as “Hashira Training Edition.” Similar to the Mugen Train movie, specifics regarding a similar release for English speakers have yet to be disclosed.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train 4K Revival

Originally premiered in cinemas in 2020, Aniplex has announced that “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train” will return to Japanese theaters on May 9th, 2025, for a five-week run until just before the release of “Infinity Castle” on July 18th in Japan. What’s more exciting is that this comeback won’t be your typical re-release. Instead, the movie adaptation of the “Mugen Train Arc” will undergo a digital upgrade to 4K resolution with enhanced audio quality.

Japanese audiences can look forward to watching the film in three high-end formats: IMAX, Dolby Atmos & Dolby Cinema, and 4DX & MX4D, as it hits theaters. This re-release of Mugen Train isn’t a one-off event; instead, it forms part of the “Kimetsu Theater – Demon Slayer Special Compilation Screening,” an ongoing initiative that aims to showcase all of Demon Slayer‘s current story arcs on the big screen in Japan before the release of Infinity Castle. This strategy is meant to recap significant events and generate excitement for the upcoming movie.

In this upcoming film, we’ll delve into the familiar narrative of Tanjiro, Inosuke, Zenitsu, and Rengoku (a Hashira wielder of flame) as they work together to unravel the enigma surrounding the Mugen Train, where an alarming number of passengers have vanished in a swift timeframe. As our group of four heroes (and one girl with demonic abilities) delve into the mystery, they’ll encounter Enmu, a demon who puts his victims into a profound slumber before consuming them. This movie will serve as the debut for anime-only fans to the Upper Moon demons, specifically Akaza – an immensely formidable combatant who harbors intense contempt for the weak.
