Heed this notice: The following article unveils significant plot twists from the April 20th installment of “The Last of Us,” titled “Through the Valley.
The cast of The Last of Us is not apologizing for Pedro Pascal’s final moments.
In the second season of the HBO series, only two episodes deep, the 50-year-old character Joel Miller, portrayed by the actor, was viciously murdered by Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever. This act was taken in retaliation for Joel’s actions in season one, when he stopped a militia group from harming Ellie, a role played by Bella Ramsey. Facing death wasn’t an unfamiliar experience for this actor, as his character met the same end on shows like Game of Thrones, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and others.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, published on April 20, Pascal quipped, “I’m often ‘killed off’ and I enjoy it.
But this time around, things were a little bit different.
He reminisced about a day when he walked onto set all made up, but immediately ruined the atmosphere as soon as people looked at him. It was an unusual feeling, a mix of shock and heartbreak, to be on the receiving end of such a reaction. It was like the extreme version of asking, “Is there something on my face?” I could see sorrow overtake everyone’s expressions in their eyes.
In the fatal moment, Pascal’s character met a brutal end when he was struck repeatedly with a golf club and impaled, a consequence of his valiant attempts to save Ellie earlier. Worse still, Joel, who considered the protagonist like a surrogate daughter after losing his own child, was powerless to prevent this gruesome killing and could only watch in despair as it unfolded.
On March 7th, Ramsey mentioned to the source, revealing a behind-the-scenes detail, “I penned down ‘Kill Joel Day’.” He explained his approach to preparing for the scene, saying, “I feigned it was an ordinary day. I intentionally tried not to be fully immersed between takes. Just before shooting, I glanced over the scene’s details. During breaks, I watched a video of ‘Peanut Butter Jelly Time.’
Speaking about the hit song of the Buckwheat Boyz that brought them into the spotlight during the early 2000s, the 21-year-old confided that it turned into a fun private reference between her and the co-showrunner Craig Mazin.
They said, “It feels like a funeral tune,” suggesting a similarity akin to “The Peanut Butter Jelly Time” meme being inevitable for everyone. While listening to it at full blast, I danced along and mimicked the words until the climax.
However, the scene of filming where Dever’s character played a crucial role in Joel’s downfall proved to be “awful” for her, as it came shortly after the passing of her mother, Kathy Dever.
In this rephrased sentence, I aimed to preserve the original meaning while making it more natural and easy to read.
The actor, who is 28 years old, revealed that he had lost his mother about two to three weeks prior to filming this particular scene. Remarkably, the funeral for his mother took place just three days before his first day on set. As a result, he found himself in a state of confusion and disorientation during this time.
Due to the unique challenges in my life, I couldn’t follow my usual acting schedule, which was quite concerning for me initially. However, this situation forced me to adopt a new strategy, one that surprisingly proved beneficial for the character. I found myself simply letting go and not overthinking it too much because the script itself had such a strong impact.
For everyone involved off-screen, the tense build-up to Joel’s death was particularly stressful because they were dedicated to telling the story faithfully and accurately, given that it was based on a 2020 video game.
During the entire filming process, director Mark Mylod admitted he was more anxious about directing the scenes preceding Pedro’s demise than any other action-packed moments. To this, Mazin commented, “What makes ‘The Last of Us’ resonate with us who aren’t experiencing a fungal apocalypse is its portrayal of the devastating impact of loss. It explores the remnants that remain when someone is ripped away from you. This makes one ponder the cost we all bear in our lives—the cost of caring deeply about people.

Despite Linda Cardellini’s character, Judy, receiving a cancer diagnosis early in season three of Dead to Me, we clung to the possibility that some extraordinary treatment could save the lively artist. However, as Jen (Christina Applegate) prepared for the birth of her new child, she found herself confronting the painful reality of losing another significant figure in her life.
Instead of staying with Jen during her battle against cancer, Judy decided to sail away, abandoning Jen in Mexico. Although the exact moment of Judy’s demise wasn’t portrayed on screen, Jen’s vision suggested that Judy lost her life due to her illness.
In Eddie Munson, portrayed by Joseph Quinn, saying he wasn’t the heroic type gave us a hint that he might perform a valiant act and meet his end in season four of Stranger Things. And as predicted, episode nine, titled “The Piggyback,” confirmed our suspicion.
In a remarkable display of courage, Eddie managed to guide the lethal Demobats away from Creel House using his exceptional guitar talents. Subsequently, he valiantly battled the flying creatures from the Upside Down, ultimately giving his life in the struggle. This heroic act served as a form of redemption for Eddie, who had fled during a previous incident in volume one, where his classmate Chrissy (Grace Van Dien) tragically lost her life at the hands of Vecna.
Even though we might have anticipated such an outcome, it was nevertheless heart-wrenching when, on his deathbed, Eddie confessed to Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) that he cared deeply for him. And yes, the waterworks started flowing!
Following a close call against the antagonist of season four, Vecna (played by Jamie Campbell Bower), Max Mayfield (portrayed by Sadie Sink) voluntarily became a decoy, hoping her friends might slay the monstrous murderer. Regrettably, not even Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) aid could hinder Vecna from inflicting maximum damage on Max.
In the harrowing moment, I – an ardent admirer, a fan beyond compare – found myself standing in the shadow of Max, who had been robbed of his sight and suffered multiple bone fractures. For a minute, it seemed he had left us, only to be reclaimed by the cold embrace of death. Yet, amidst the chaos, Eleven, my heroine, couldn’t stand idly by as Max was subjected to unbearable torment. In a miraculous turn of events, she managed to revive his heart, even if just enough to plunge him into a coma.
Will Max survive into season five? Only time will tell.
In a twist of events, the character portrayed by Matthew Modine, Dr. Martin Brenner, was thought to have perished in season one but made a return in season four, despite seemingly escaping death for quite some time. Known affectionately as Papa by Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, his reappearance stirred up controversy once again.
Trying to restore Eleven’s abilities against government orders, Dr. Brenner found himself in grave danger. A sniper from a helicopter ended up hitting him. Unfortunately, it was disappointing to bring back such a character, only to see him die once more.
Following a prolonged struggle against Alzheimer’s disease, Mandy Moore’s character, Rebecca Pearson, was pronounced dead, surrounded by her three children, in the May 17th edition of ‘This Is Us’.
In the episode, Rebecca found herself on a train where she was warmly welcomed by acquaintances and loved ones who had passed away during different stages of her life. Eventually, she met up with her former husband Jack, portrayed by Milo Ventimiglia.
We have not stopped crying.
Ummm, WTF just happened?!
In the fifth episode of the HBO limited series, it was this response when Detective Colin Zabel (played by Evan Peters) was fatally wounded by Mr. Potts during an investigation into several missing women. Colin and his partner Mare (portrayed by Kate Winslet) were pursuing a lead at the time. After Colin was shot, Mare managed to overpower Potts, who was attempting to kill her as well, and rescued the two girls he had imprisoned in his attic.
Moments before his passing, Colin eerily told his worried mother, “My entire life was about being cautious…look how much that benefited me,” and then he suddenly kissed Mare following their confession of secrets. What a missed opportunity for two of Pennsylvania’s most troubled detectives.
Wow, you didn’t see this coming! In the third season, it turns out that Jane the Virgin offed Michael (played by Brett Dier). Even though he seemed to have recovered from a shooting, there was a shocking twist! And then, instead of showing Jane (Gina Rodriguez) going through her mourning period, the show leaped ahead three years into the future.
Michael, initially believed to be deceased, turned out to have merely suffered from amnesia and was relocated to a ranch instead. The prolonged duration before this revelation has led us to continue exploring this plotline. The time spent thinking he was dead certainly added enough impact to the story!
As the final episode of the series approached, there was an equal probability that our anti-hero (apologies to Dexter Morgan) would perish, but the way it unfolded and the entire finale were nothing short of remarkable. Our beloved character (Walt, portrayed by Bryan Cranston), successfully dismantled Jack’s neo-nazi gang, rescued Jesse (Aaron Paul), and ensured his family received the money. Well done, Walt! Tragically, a machine gun device that obliterated the White Supremacist group also struck him, causing a fatal wound. However, Walt had a poignant moment with his lab equipment one last time before he passed away, looking almost serene in his final moments.
Rayna Jaymes, portrayed by Connie Britton, bid a heartfelt farewell on the TV series Nashville, following a tragic car accident that resulted in her untimely demise. Despite initial speculations about her departure, CMT revived the show after its cancellation on ABC. However, whispers circulated around Britton’s imminent exit; she addressed these rumors vaguely until her character ultimately met her end. In a statement, Britton confirmed that her choice to depart the show was her own.
Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar), who was capable of warding off demons, vampires, and various other supernatural entities, was unable to prevent her mom, Joyce Summers, from a mundane death – a ruptured brain aneurysm. This unexpected passing marked one of the most poignant episodes in television history. The haunting lack of background music during this scene, orchestrated by Joss Whedon, only served to amplify the emotional impact.
Do you recall when American Horror Story was initially unveiled as an anthology series, and people were puzzled by Ryan Murphy deciding to eliminate his main actress in season one? Ah, those were fun days. The moment it was disclosed that Vivien (Connie Britton) had a demonic infant within her, we knew the delivery wouldn’t have a happy ending. Following the birth of the twins – one stillborn and one demonic – Vivien was losing too much blood to recover. Incredibly, the 1920s ghost doctor couldn’t manage to save her?
Without a doubt, the heart-wrenching death scene of Denny on Grey’s Anatomy stands among the saddest in television history. Izzy’s patient, portrayed by Katherine Heigl, had waited so long for his heart transplant, and it seemed like his fairytale ending was finally within reach! But Shonda Rhimes, in her characteristic twist, orchestrated a tragic turn: Denny passed away due to a clot from his stitches migrating to his brain. In the midst of her prom dress, Izzy discovered her fiancé lifeless in his hospital bed. Overwhelmed with grief, she crawled into his bed for one last embrace. Once again, our hearts shatter at the memory, and we find ourselves longing for a healing moment of our own.
In the season-two finale of NCIS, they tricked us good! Agent Todd (Sasha Alexander) and her team got into a heavy gunfight with terrorists, and she bravely threw herself in front of Gibbs (Mark Harmon) to shield him from a bullet. We were on edge, thinking the worst had happened, but it turned out that Todd was safe because she had a protective vest on. However, right when everyone let out a sigh of relief and Gibbs thanked her, Ari (Rudolf Martin) sniped her straight between the eyes!
The first instance when we encountered the captivating HBO series left no doubt about its seriousness. From the start, Game of Thrones made a lasting impact on our television screens with an unexpected death in the initial season – none other than the central character! Those who had read the books were aware of this twist, but it was still jaw-dropping to witness the demise of our beloved king, who met his end at the hands of the most detestable character: Joffrey.
Is there any alternative to the mob other than death? Upon learning that Adriana (Drea de Matteo) was an FBI informant, Tony (James Gandolfini) ordered her assassination. Silvio (Steven Van Zandt) drove her somewhere, making Adriana believe he was taking her to see Christopher (Michael Imperioli). Instead, he fatally shot her twice. Fortunately, the camera moved upward so we didn’t have to witness the actual gunshots. However, since we don’t know what happened to Tony afterward (the scene ended abruptly!), Adriana’s death on The Sopranos remains the most surprising in our opinion.
Categorize as: Unexpected Turn of Events! It appears that Detective Carter (Taraji P. Henson) regained her title, but then a twist occurred when Simmons (Robert John Burke) intervened. Suddenly appearing from an alleyway, he fired at both Carter and Reese (Jim Caviezel). Tragically, it was Carter who lost her life due to her injuries, passing away in the arms of Reese.
Don’t forget that shocking moment when they wrote off the second male lead on the show? Wow, talk about unexpected turns! Following Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and his gang freeing Clay (Ron Perlman) from transport, SAMCRO orchestrated a scheme to frame Clay for the murders of the Irishmen. Here’s how: Jax shot him in the neck, then again after he fell to the ground, making it appear as if Clay was engaged in a shootout with the Irish. Farewell, Mr. President.
Oh dear, Shonda! Please cease creating such heart-wrenching scenarios for us. In one of the episodes, a plane carrying Lexie (Chyler Leigh) and six other doctors crashes, resulting in Lexie being trapped under debris with no chance of survival. Sloan (Eric Dane) discovers her, holding her hand as she takes her final breath, whispering his eternal love for her. Tragically, she breathes her last as Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) arrives on the scene. Back in Seattle, Sloan too succumbs to his injuries from the crash, leading to Seattle Grace Hospital being renamed Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
Let’s dive into this series. Terry O’Quinn’s character, John Locke, was killed by Ben (Michael Emerson), Sayid (Naveen Andrews) gave up his life on Widmore’s submarine, and the fates of Jin (Daniel Dae Kim) and Sun (Yunjin Kim) drowning together are heart-wrenching. Even today, we’re touched by Jin’s decision to stay with Sun when she was trapped in the flooded chamber.
In a chilling turn of events, we can never erase the memory of Carter collapsing onto the floor, revealing another person lying there, already dying – tragically, that was Lucy (Kellie Martin). The mentally ill patient Paul (David Krumholtz) fatally stabs her in a delusional state. What adds to the heartbreak is that Carter (Noah Wyle) also gets stabbed upon discovering a Valentine’s Day card from Lucy to him. As he bleeds on the floor, his eyes widen in horror as he sees Lucy too, fatally wounded and struggling for life. Despite the valiant attempts by the doctors at Chicago General, Lucy ultimately succumbs to her injuries.
Jack’s (Kiefer Sutherland) wife Teri (Leslie Hope) dying at the end of season one was a shock that left us exclaiming, “Wow, 24 isn’t pulling its punches.” The heart-wrenching scene where Jack reached his wife, who lay motionless in a chair with a gunshot wound to her abdomen, will forever linger in our minds. The image of him cradling Teri’s lifeless body and apologizing to her remains deeply etched in our memory.
It was always clear that things wouldn’t end well for Tara (Maggie Siff) and Jax (Charlie Hunnam), but wow, the way it ended was nothing short of heart-wrenching! Despite a brief glimmer of hope that everything might work out somehow, Tara’s mother-in-law Gemma (Katey Sagal), who is also Tara’s child’s grandmother, went completely mad and brutally murdered Tara. In the end, Tara passed away in Jax’s arms, tears streaming down his face. We’re not sure whether to congratulate the showrunner Kurt Sutter or express our anger—perhaps that’s why we have two hands!
Oh dear, it was truly distressing… Following the birth of her child, Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) is severely bleeding due to an emergency C-section. Realizing that his mother might be brought back to life after death, Carl (Chandler Riggs) takes action to prevent this by firing a shot towards her head.
During its six-season span, the popular MTV show unexpectedly took the life of its leading female character in the second-to-last episode of season three. In the midst of a fierce battle, an Oni spirit fatally stabbed her, and her last words were a heartfelt declaration to Scott McCall: “I’m with the arms of my first love. The first person I’ve ever loved. The one I’ve always loved…Scott McCall.” This tragic event left us in floods of tears.
It was inevitable that this day would arrive, given what the executive producers had initially planned for the character of Brody, a conflicted war vet who became a prisoner of war, then a terrorist, and possibly a good guy again. However, considering the exceptional talent of Damian Lewis, who has won both a Golden Globe and an Emmy for his performance and is the main male lead, we were taken aback when Brody was publicly hanged in the season three finale while Carrie (Claire Danes), who was both devastated and pregnant at the time, looked on.
In that particular series, don’t you recall when the writers shockingly eliminated an entire family of main characters, leaving viewers in disbelief? The ones who seemed invincible and destined to survive till the end? Fans of the Game of Thrones novels had a feeling it was coming, but they still received an unexpected twist when Robb’s wife Talisa, played by Oona Chaplin, was fatally stabbed during a feast (she wasn’t even supposed to be there!), taking both her life and their unborn child. Robb attempted revenge, but he took too many arrows to the chest, and Roose, portrayed by Michael McElhatto, delivered the final blow with a sword. Overwhelmed by grief, Catelyn, played by Michelle Fairley, retaliated against Walder Frey’s wife by slitting her throat just before Black Walder Frey, Tim Plester, did the same to her. Kudos to the GoT writers for breaking our hearts so effectively!
We’re still grappling with the aftermath of this event, which we consider one of the most disturbing moments in TV history. Despite Dexter (Michael C. Hall) having killed Trinity (John Lithgow), there was one more murder he was unaware of: his wife, Rita (Julie Benz). Dexter stumbles upon Rita in a blood-filled bathtub, with their son Harrison crying nearby, covered in his mother’s blood. Rita’s lifeless eyes were fixed on the baby she couldn’t protect. That chilling scene has left an indelible mark on our minds. To be honest, it wasn’t just Rita’s death that affected us, but also the demise of a show we could never connect with in quite the same way again. Farewell, Rita Morgan and Showtime’s Dexter. Rest In Peace.
Oh dear! The season five finale of the popular HBO series brought one of its most shocking deaths: Jon Snow (Kit Harington). Indeed, they went through with it, as Jon was brutally killed by his Night’s Watch comrades who disagreed with Jon’s compassion towards the Wildlings. To add insult to injury, young Olly, Jon’s apprentice, was the one who delivered the fatal blow! Far too intense for my taste.
Fortunately, Jon’s revival came swiftly after our heartache, in the following season. However, during that period, we were completely unaware of the turn of events. Consequently, the pain persisted.
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but relive the heart-wrenching moment when Meredith, that is, Ellen Pompeo, found out her husband, Derek (Patrick Dempsey), had missed his last DC meeting and was heading back home after their reconciliation. Little did we expect that this invincible character, who had cheated death countless times, would meet his end so tragically. After saving lives from a car crash, he was struck by an 18-wheeler as he returned to his own vehicle. If only the ambulance hadn’t taken him to a mediocre hospital with incompetent doctors who failed to perform a crucial brain scan. For a brief instant, we were led to believe he had somehow survived, but alas, it was just a hallucination. The truth soon emerged: Derek was brain dead. Meredith was left with no choice but to pull the plug on both Derek and our shattered hearts, all while “Chasing Cars” played mournfully in the background. Although we may have been forewarned by spoilers a few hours prior, the reality of his death still hit us like a ton of bricks, leaving an indelible sorrow that continues to linger. We may never fully recover from this loss.
Discuss an unexpected death that left fans shocked. In the fifth season of the highly praised CBS series, a surprising twist occurred as the show’s beloved character Will Gardner, portrayed by Josh Charles (a nominee for the Golden Globe award), met an untimely end. The heartbreaking aspect? He was fatally shot in court while defending one of his unstable clients, who was also a former favorite, Hunter Parrish.
In a heartfelt message, Robert and Michelle King expressed their joy from every moment spent with Charles on Twitter, mentioning that they’ll deeply miss him. With deep appreciation, they signed off as Michelle & Robert. This poignant statement came from the creators of “The Good Wife” following the surprising turn of events. The tears flowed freely…and the feelings of Will and Alicia resonated!
