Hatsune Miku Mixes Pink & Mecha in New Reveal by Official Gundam Designer

In recent times, there’s been a significant surge in joint ventures between popular brands and the Mobile Suit Gundam series. These collaborations have resulted in various products that beautifully blend these seemingly unrelated entities. This trend has now culminated in an artwork that subtly merges them even further.

Word on the street is that a fresh creation featuring Sakura Miku, the cherry blossom-themed Vocaloid singer, has been shared. Given the time of year in Japan when cherry blossoms bloom, this artwork was crafted by a prominent artist from the Gundam series. Despite its lack of giant robots, it’s yet another delightful blend of these two popular entities.

Gundam’s Yoshikazu Yasuhiko Draws One of Hatsune Miku‘s Most Colorful Designs Yet

In March 2025, it became known that a depiction of a unique Hatsune Miku character was created by the renowned artist Yoshikazu Yasuhiko. Known for his mecha designs in various instalments of the Mobile Suit Gundam series, and also the creator of the remake of the original anime’s storyline, Yasuhiko is recognized as an artist beyond mere mechas. The artwork unveiled is a portrayal of “Sakura Miku,” a variant with pink hair, holding two desserts resembling sundaes and posing with one leg lifted, against the backdrop of Hirosaki Castle in real-life Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. The artwork will be exhibited at the Hirosaki City Machinaka Information Center from April 12 to June 30, with the center operating daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Japan Standard Time).

Over time, I’ve amassed a great deal of merchandise, with Hatsune Miku standing out as the most beloved Vocaloid mascot ever crafted by Crypton Entertainment. Introduced in 2007, she’s since expanded her horizons, collaborating with countless franchises and characters. One such collaboration is with the legendary Gundam series, where 2025 witnessed the unveiling of several Miku-themed Gundam model kits. These range from a kit showcasing the iconic Zaku II mecha unit to another featuring a Miku rendition of the RX-78-2 Gundam. What’s more, it was recently announced that Mobile Suit Gundam: THE ORIGIN will be re-released in a premium edition, allowing fans to witness firsthand the profound influence the artist behind Sakura Miku’s image had on the Universal Century timeline.
