Thunderbolts* Director Hints One Character Connects Film to Avengers: Doomsday

Based on information from the director of “Thunderbolts“, it’s been revealed that a key member of the ensemble cast in “Thunderbolts” will have a crucial role in the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday”. The Earth’s strongest superheroes are set to reunite next year to challenge Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Doctor Doom. Leading up to this showdown, the storyline will involve the “Thunderbolts”, a group of unconventional heroes banding together to combat an adversary who surpasses the combined power of all Avengers – The Sentry. With many cast members from “Thunderbolts” reprising their roles for “Avengers: Doomsday”, fans are eagerly speculating about the connection between the two films, which seems to revolve around a single, influential character.

As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I had the chance to chat with Jake Schreier, the brilliant director behind Thunderbolts. He hinted at an intriguing connection between one of our film’s cast members and Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. “There could be some minor or major stones involved,” he said with a sly smile. “Let’s just say, if you know the character we’re discussing, you understand there’s immense power at play that could shape things to come.” However, as I’m not part of the Avengers team, I don’t have the inside scoop on Doctor Doom’s plans for our cast member in Avengers: Doomsday.

In the movie Thunderbolts, although Schreier doesn’t explicitly name a character, his dialogue suggests that the mysterious person could be Lewis Pullman’s character, Bob, also known as Sentry. Pullman stepped in to replace Steven Yeun in the film, as the latter had to withdraw from filming. The movie has given fans brief glimpses of Sentry through TV ads and previews, with Marvel deliberately keeping Sentry in the shadows. However, we do witness Sentry throwing Red Guardian out of a window at the Thunderbolts’ headquarters, which was once the Avengers’ home, and seemingly causing harm to innocent bystanders as they flee down the street.

In the film “Avengers: Doomsday”, there might be a scenario where Doctor Doom takes over Sentry, transforming him into a pawn and weapon aimed at Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Given that Marvel boasts Sentry as incredibly powerful, this could mean trouble for our heroes. However, if Sentry is indeed that strong, one may wonder how the Thunderbolts can possibly contend with him in their movie. It seems like the odds are heavily against them.

Among the stars set to appear in “Avengers: Doomsday” are Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, David Harbor, Wyatt Russell, Hannah John-Kamen, and Lewis Pullman. Notably absent is Olga Kurylenko, who played Taskmaster in previous films. The role of Taskmaster in the upcoming “Thunderbolts*” has sparked much discussion among fans, with many speculating that the character may meet their end in this movie. With “Thunderbolts*” set to hit theaters in just over a fortnight, we’ll soon find out if this theory holds true.

Discussing the topic of Thunderbolts and character speculations, a popular theory circulating social media suggests that Geraldine Viswanathan’s character “Mel” might be hiding as the Marvel heroine Songbird. Viswanathan herself has described her character as Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine’s “assistant,” although she wears a necklace with a songbird emblem, which appears in a TV spot for Thunderbolts, fueling this theory.
