Shannon Sharpe is facing serious legal troubles.
It’s alleged that the ex-tight end for the Denver Broncos has been charged with sexual assault and battery, based on evidence gathered over a span of two years, as reported by NBC Sports.
In the April 20th legal claim, a woman referred to as Jane Doe made accusations against Sharpe. She claimed that he had raped her, secretly filmed and disseminated their intimate videos, and continued having unprotected sex with her even after she tried to make him stop or use a condom.
TopMob News has reached out to reps for Sharpe for comment and has not heard back.
According to the documents, Jane Doe claimed that she and Sharpe entered into a challenging but consensual romantic relationship in 2023, which she characterized as domineering and abusive.
In the filing made in Nevada, as reported by both TMZ Sports and NBC Sports, I found myself being expected to surrender my time and physical self entirely, with a demand that I should always be ready to be at his residence according to his whim, whenever he summoned me.
The court document further states, “Defendant Shannon Sharpe, known for obtaining what he desires, seems to be oblivious to this fundamental truth.” Following a prolonged period of manipulation and control over the female Plaintiff, who is significantly younger than him, and multiple instances where he threatened to choke and slap her viciously, Sharpe refused to accept ‘no’ for an answer and sexually assaulted the Plaintiff, despite her crying and repeatedly shouting ‘no’, regardless.
At age 20, Jane Doe asserted that Sharpe, aged 56, compelled himself upon her, an incident occurring when she was in tears, following her effort to end their relationship after it became public knowledge that the host of the Club Shay Shay podcast had accidentally broadcast having intimate moments with another woman live on Instagram in September.
The lawsuit, without any potential criminal penalties involved, is asking for $50 million. In the event of a trial, any recovery, if granted, would be decided by a jury, taking into account the presented evidence and applicable laws. In essence, the amount could potentially vary according to their decision.
Tony Buzbee announced on Instagram on April 21st that his law firm is representing a woman known as Jane Doe. He stated that his client claims she was subjected to a series of brutal sexual assaults by the ex-NFL player, Shannon Sharpe, with the most recent incident taking place in January 2025.
In a lawsuit filed under the name ‘Jane Doe’, a series of actions such as intimidation, manipulation, and abuse are detailed, which allegedly involve Sharpe repeatedly threatening to choke and slap Jane Doe. The author expressed his immense pride in representing Jane Doe, stating that it requires significant bravery to confront those who hold power, influence, and wealth.
He concluded, “I look forward to pressing this case in court.”
