At WrestleMania 41’s conclusion, John Cena’s victory over Cody Rhodes, marked by cheating and outside assistance from Travis Scott, sparked a great deal of debate among fans. Following the event, on the first Raw show, Cena continued with his usual message, criticizing the audience for their attempts to cheer him during WrestleMania and even now. In an extended rant, he announced that he would be taking the title with him after completing his 27-date schedule. However, it was Randy Orton who stepped forward as Cena’s next challenger, catching Cena off guard with an RKO and claiming the title for himself.
Cena didn’t dilly-dally in mocking the audience. He said, “Winners shape history. You don’t deserve it. You believe that on Friday, you can intimidate me, and then I enter the ring with gold adorning my waist, and because you cheer I’m expected to forgive you? No, no, that’s not how a healthy relationship functions.

Though you’re cheerful, I can still sternly instruct you to head directly to a place far from pleasant. Each one of you should express your regrets, but I see you lack the guts for it,” Cena expressed. “Create the commotion, this is the event where Monday Night Raw is seized, isn’t it? You’re all here for WrestleMania, so you can arrive and rule, right? Incredible, you lot have become too soft.
Instead of expressing remorse, loud chants echoed, and Cena made it clear they held no significance for him. More chants followed. “For a quarter of a century, you’ve hurled insults at me, but I’ve always bounced back. Keep going, you have no impact on me. Your voices mean nothing to me. The only thing that truly matters in all our lives is that… 36 events,” Cena declared. After accounting for the ones already held, there remained 27 events left for the year, though Cena clarified that these weren’t matches or personal appearances.
Cena stated that even though you claim I can’t wrestle, I don’t have to prove it. All I need is to show up and perform. When the clock hits zero in our match, the professional wrestling timeline will come to an abrupt halt. You may not realize this, but I am not as simple-minded as you think. I understand that there will be another Monday Night Raw, a new champion will be chosen, but the title once held by Bruno Sammartino, currently by Roman Reigns, taken from me by CM Punk, held by Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Stone Cold Steve Austin will return to me.
No one in WWE matches John Cena’s power, speed, intelligence, or ruthless attitude. Unlike you, I care, and I want to do something kind for you now. Remember to take a good photo because the true champion is here.” As he was saying this, Randy Orton quietly approached from behind. Orton was poised to attack, and when Cena turned around, Orton delivered an RKO, ending the scene with him holding up the Title.
