This week, a fresh edition of Race Across the World debuts on BBC One, featuring five daring pairs embarking on an extraordinary adventure.
Looking down upon the quaint village of Huanghuacheng, the racers embarked on their journey along the Great Wall of China, aiming to reach their initial milestone located in Huangling.
For thrill-seekers, they’ll discover their excitement within the heartlands, whereas travelers who prefer speed and convenience can reach Shanghai via China’s expansive high-speed rail system.
Among the duos are Fin and Sioned, this year’s youngest pair in the race.

Who are Fin and Sioned?
Relationship: Partners
18-year-old Fin and 19-year-old Sioned, hailing from Carmarthen, Wales, have a strong desire to venture beyond their quaint hometown.
The duo lacked a well-defined plan before the race, instead choosing to adapt to the situation and go along with it rather than sticking to a particular plan.
Fin stated, “We’d love to come out on top, but honestly, we’re just eager to see how things unfold and discover new experiences.” Sioned chimed in, “It’s tough to devise a strategy when the future is uncertain. We’ll adapt as we go along, handling whatever comes our way when it arrives.
In preparation for the trip, Fin went on hikes as their pair focused on their fitness.
Sioned shared that their focus has primarily been on fitness training. They attempted to navigate without their phones, yet found it challenging since their phone was usually in their pocket, making them instinctively grab it. Now, however, they no longer have the option due to circumstances.
Why did Fin and Sioned want to take part in Race Across the World?
Fin and Sioned joined the race because they felt a need to demonstrate something to themselves.
It seems that teaming up for a shared challenge, like the Race Across the World, was an effective method for us to spend time together, test our abilities, and explore if we could navigate life’s journeys side by side. I believe this is what ultimately motivated us to embark on this adventure.
