The popular show “Race Across the World” returns with an exciting twist! This season, five brand-new teams embark on a demanding adventure from Beijing, China all the way to Kanniyakumari, the most southern point in India.
As I delve into the fascinating narratives, Yin and Gaz stand out among the duos. Their compelling backstory is sure to spark curiosity in viewers from the get-go, making their journey a must-watch as the season unfolds.
Commencing from tonight, the duo will make their way to the iconic Great Wall of China, followed by their initial stop in Huangling.
However, who is Yin and Gaz? Discover their story as they begin their adventure in the Race Across the World.
Who are Yin and Gaz?

To some, Yin and Gaz may seem like an unconventional pair, but they’re determined to leverage their unique talents together to triumph in the competition.
In unity during our ups and downs, I anticipate that Yin and I will venture together into explorations of self-understanding.
The pair – both 54 – run a Chinese takeaway together, and have known each other for 35 years.
For Gaz, it was only Yin he could have performed the show with. Regarding his choice, Gaz stated: “Was it possible for me to perform this with my sibling? Nope. Could I do it with any other friends? Nope. And Yin was essentially in the same boat.
Prior to embarking on the race, the pair took a trip to the Lake District to prepare.
Gaz said, “We enjoy adventures outside our comfort zone for holidays.” It was pouring rain that day, so we embarked on hikes, carrying our backpacks along the way.
Besides taking regular strolls for physical activity, we’ve been donning our backpacks filled with equipment as well. We’ve been hitting the gym, focusing on maintaining fitness while acclimating to the weight on our shoulders. Additionally, we’ve made a conscious effort to reduce our food consumption.
Are Yin and Gaz married?
No. As will be explained in the launch episode, Yin and Gaz were once married, but have separated.
Following the split, Yin embarked on a fresh romantic journey, unfortunately losing him in September. During this challenging period, Gaz offered his assistance and support.
Why did Yin and Gaz want to take part in Race Across the World?
After seeing the advert for season 5, Yin knew she really wanted to take part.
She shared: “Upon encountering this opportunity, I felt a sudden impulse to seize it. An inner voice urged me to complete the application form. When Gaz returned home, since I was residing with him during my mourning phase and he was providing care for me, I excitedly asked him, ‘Would you consider participating in Race Across the World with me?’
He casually replied, “Sure thing, doesn’t matter,” but likely did so to entertain me, given his awareness of my current situation. Unbeknownst to us, he swiftly completed the form, marking the start of our adventure!
