Prince Louis Is Living His Best Life, and the Royals Are Just Along for the Ride

For years, it so often looked as if Prince Louis just wasn’t having it.

However, being the youngest among Kate Middleton and Prince William’s trio of children, he had no necessity for possessing it.

Since he is only 7 years old as of April 23, there’s still plenty of time for him to grow and learn before needing to act like he understands more complex matters. However, based on Louis’ mature demeanor while attending church with his family on Christmas morning, it seems he already has a good grasp of the situation.

Kate pondered in October 2022, “I still think of Louis as a baby, but he’s grown into a big boy now.” She watched as her youngest son confidently took center stage on the balcony and prepared for his first walk to church, ready to make an impact.

After surpassing his earlier impressive performances, he casually yawned during the coronation of Grandfather King Charles III on May 6, 2023, as though he had no worries at all.

However, the entire royal family found themselves on the brink of facing a multitude of concerns far beyond what they had ever imagined.

On February 5, 2024, Charles disclosed that he would be receiving cancer treatment. Approximately two months later, Kate revealed that she was undergoing preventive chemotherapy, as her doctors had discovered cancer during an abdominal operation.

Until the Trooping the Colour event on June 15 last year, neither she nor her children, specifically Prince George (age 11) and Princess Charlotte (age 9), along with their brother Louis, had any public appearances.

In the year 2025, the family celebrated with notably positive updates. It was in January when Kate announced her remission, continuing to focus on her healing process.

Just as those who have gone through a cancer diagnosis understand, adapting to a different routine requires patience. Nevertheless, I’m excited about the promising year that lies ahead, filled with many positive prospects.

People found it challenging to adapt without Kate’s constant presence, and the brief period she spent out of the public eye last year was long enough for numerous wild conspiracy theories to emerge in her absence. Simultaneously, she chose to maintain privacy about her diagnosis in order to concentrate not only on her treatment but also on her family.

In her exceptionally open video message on March 22, 2024, she clarified that she needed to convey the news to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a manner suitable for their understanding, and also assure them that she would be alright.

Last year, Louis’ birthday celebration, as customary, featured a new portrait taken by Kate. However, when this image was published on the social media accounts of the Prince and Princess of Wales a few hours later than in previous years, rumors arose that the family might be growing less comfortable with being photographed. (Following an incident where a photo of her with the children that she posted for U.K. Mother’s Day in 2024 was deemed excessively altered and therefore unfit for distribution by the Associated Press and other agencies, Kate apologized for overusing Photoshop.)

In our family, we typically celebrate the kids’ birthdays in a private setting, avoiding public displays like Instagram posts featuring Frozen-themed parties. However, I, as one dedicated follower, have learned that Kate enjoys commemorating the days she gave birth to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a special way.

Every year, as a devoted enthusiast, I carry on an endearing custom of burning the midnight oil, surrounded by mountainous quantities of cake batter and frosting, whipping up way more than necessary. And guess what? I adore every minute of it! This was shared with the esteemed Mary Berry during BBC’s A Berry Royal Christmas in 2019.

Despite Kate and William making sure life continues smoothly for Louis and his siblings, Louis’ concerns are not those typically associated with adulthood yet. Moreover, these worries will never consume George’s time when he reaches an age where he is expected to take on the responsibilities of a future king – as their father currently does, and as their grandfather did for over 50 years before assuming the role in September 2022.

It is often thought that being the second-in-line to the throne offers a trouble-free life, but this is not true for Prince Harry. Similarly, Louis, who is currently fourth in line, has an opportunity for a more prominent royal role, similar to what his uncle Harold may have desired but possibly struggled with accepting.

Since Kate and William introduced Louis to the public on the steps of the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital, their lives have been a flurry of posing for photographs and receiving affection.

Regarding the daily routine of the third child born to Wales (formerly Cambridge), it is mentioned that Louis attends Lambrook School in Berkshire, where he studies alongside his siblings, who also joined in September 2022. Their parents made this decision.

Instead of spending most of their time at Kensington Palace and their home in Anmer Hall, Norfolk, the family of five moved into Adelaide Cottage in Windsor so they could be nearer to their children’s new school.

Unfortunately, on the children’s first official day, they experienced a sorrowful event as their great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away. This is why Kate didn’t join William immediately at Balmoral in Scotland, where family members gathered following news of the monarch’s deteriorating health.

Following the drop-off and pickup of the children, Kate subsequently united with the rest of the royal family. (It’s unclear if Louis, who at 20 months was known for his assertiveness in 2019 as he frequently said “me, me, me” and preferred to accompany his mother everywhere, experienced any first-day apprehension.)

On September 10, 2022, while welcoming visitors outside Windsor Castle, Kate Middleton was heard saying affectionately, “My little Louis is such a sweetheart. He said, ‘Don’t worry, Mummy, she’s now with great-grandpa.’

4-year-old Louis, who shares his mother’s passion for photography and seems to possess an understanding that goes beyond his years, was unable to join George and Charlotte at the queen’s funeral in Westminster Abbey due to his parents. Sensing a shift in the atmosphere, Louis is said to have wondered if their visits to Balmoral Castle would feel different without Gan-Gan present.

Last October, as Kate contemplated Louis growing up, she found herself strolling through the maternity unit at Royal Surrey County Hospital, a place where issues like newborn health and child development hold special significance for her.

However, this wasn’t the first occasion she had expressed this feeling. Previously, during interactions with staff members at the Brent branch of Little Village, where families in need can gather infant necessities, she had mentioned, “I often find myself thinking that Louis is still my baby, but he’s grown into a young boy now.

Previously, it was known that Princess Kate had felt strongly about having children. This became apparent when, during a hospital visit in January 2022, William humorously commented as she held a newborn baby, “Be careful not to inspire any more ideas in my wife! That’s enough!

Next month when Kate travels alone to Denmark, she joked, “Every time I meet infants younger than a year, William frets. When I get back, I say, ‘Let’s try for another child.’

Louis apparently adores babies too, as Kate shared with BBC Breakfast in July 2020, during a time when staying home was the norm due to the pandemic. She mentioned that her two-year-old son didn’t comprehend social distancing and had a strong desire to cuddle anything, especially infants younger than himself.

Currently, William and Kate are kept busy with their current family. During the coronation, George, symbolizing his position as second in line, took on one of the roles as the eight Page of Honor when the procession arrived at Westminster Abbey.

However, Louis, who upheld a distinguished family legacy initiated by his older siblings when he captivated everyone at his Trooping the Colour debut at just 13 months old, undeniably outshone not only the king but also the future kings in waiting.

Rest assured, he looked as if he wasn’t having it—and we honor him all the more for it.

On January 22, Prince Harry, also known as the Duke of Sussex, reached a settlement with News Group Newspapers (the publishers behind The Sun and the now-defunct News of the World) following a lawsuit he filed in 2019. The lawsuit was regarding alleged illegal activities by journalists and private investigators working for these newspapers, who were accused of gathering information on the royal family in an unlawful manner.

As an over-the-moon fan, I’d rephrase it like this: The agreement stipulated that they would compensate me generously for any wrongs done, offer a sincere and unwavering apology, and openly admit the extensive media attention and invasive intrusion into not just my life, but also the private life of Princess Diana, which was truly unfortunate. On January 14th, the Princess of Wales declared her cancer is in full remission following successful completion of all treatment sessions.

She expressed her sense of relief in being in remission and continued her focus on healing, writing this on X, the former Twitter, on January 14th. Just as anyone who has gone through a cancer diagnosis can attest, it requires patience to adapt to a fresh way of life.

She went on saying, “I’m excited about what the upcoming year holds,” and added, “There are many things to be eager about.

In a heartfelt tribute, the Duchess of Sussex expressed deep sorrow over the passing of her cherished rescue beagle, whom she welcomed into her home back in 2015, prior to her union with Prince Harry.

On Instagram, she posted on January 7th: “I’ve shed so many tears I can’t even count them anymore. These are the kind of tears that lead you to step into the shower, hoping the water streaming down your face will miraculously make them disappear or convince you they aren’t there. Yet, they persist. And it’s alright for them to do so.

Meghan expressed her gratitude for the countless years of selfless affection, addressing her beloved Guy. She went on to say that he had enriched her life in ways that he may never fully understand.

 

Edward “Ed” Pettifer, who was the stepson of Prince William and Prince Harry’s previous nanny Alexandra Pettifer (also known as Tiggy Legge-Bourke), tragically became a victim of the terror incident that occurred on New Year’s Day in New Orleans.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but be utterly devastated and stunned by the heart-wrenching demise of Ed Pettifer. My thoughts and prayers continue to echo for the Pettifier family, and all those who have been affected by this horrendous tragedy.
