Ryan Gosling’s Lost River: The Fantasy Thriller Streaming Soon on Max!

turbulent directorial debut will soon be made available for streaming.

As a cinephile, I’m excited to share that starting May 1st, I’ll be able to stream the enigmatic fantasy thriller “Lost River” on Max. Directed and written by none other than Ryan Gosling himself, this captivating film boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan, Iain De Caestecker, Matt Smith, Ben Mendelsohn, Barbara Steele, and Eva Mendes. This intriguing tale made its grand debut at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival before officially gracing US screens on April 10, 2015. Despite a significant budget of $2 million, “Lost River” failed to make waves at the box office with a meager gross of $615,500. The film has received mixed but predominantly negative reviews from critics, currently holding a score of 30% on Rotten Tomatoes. Nonetheless, I’m intrigued and can’t wait to see it for myself!

In the storyline, Billy (Henricks), a single mother residing in Detroit along with her teenage son Bones (De Caestecker) and young child Franky (Landyn Joseph Stewart), struggles to maintain their lives amidst economic hardship within a peculiar, sometimes violent environment. Simultaneously, Bones embarks on a journey to unravel the town’s enigmatic past.

Lost River Was Denied a Theatrical Release

The poor response to the movies at the Cannes Film Festival could explain why Lost River, which is currently the only film directed by Ryan Gosling, has not gained much recognition.

In the movie “Lost River”, we find ourselves in a haunting and abandoned metropolis plagued by lawlessness. The protagonist, Billy, is a single mother trying to make ends meet for her two sons amidst an extreme financial downturn.

Lost River will be available to stream on Max May 1st.
