Bosch: Legacy Star Surprised by Cancellation, Fans Launch #SaveBosch Campaign

A different actor has spoken publicly about the unforeseen termination of the show. Just like Titus Welliver, Denise G. Sanchez – known for her role as Reina Vasquez in the crime drama series – was taken aback by the sudden cancellation of Legacy, despite its high viewership, even after three successful seasons.

In a conversation, Sanchez discussed the #SaveBosch movement that fans have organized following the show’s termination. She expressed, “It’s been truly heartwarming to witness the fans’ affection for the series. It seems like it’s gained momentum lately. Initially, it took some time for people to jump on board, and there was so much I wanted to express, but I had to maintain a respectful tone.” She continued, “I wasn’t privy to everything. Even with the Save Bosch: Legacy group, I took an active yet discreet stance because there were numerous theories circulating, and I was thinking, ‘Perhaps, perhaps’. I’m just as much in the dark as you are.

Sanchez went on to say, “When the petition was launched and the fans began talking about it, I couldn’t help but watch in amazement as they expressed disbelief, yet remained active. Their determination was palpable: ‘We won’t let this go wrong.’ It filled me with such joy and gratitude. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the fans and everyone who contributed to creating this petition, for all their hard work.

Later on, the actress expressed her feelings when Amazon Prime Video declared in September that the series wouldn’t continue beyond its already-aired third season. “I guess I was so stunned and deeply invested that I couldn’t think of a constructive response at first. I was like a statue. It’s not just an awesome show, but there are fantastic individuals associated with it. How can this be over?” she summed up.

The Bosch Universe Will Live on in Ballard

As Harry Bosch steps down from his role as the main character in the “Bosch” universe, a new series will be introduced, focusing on Maggie Q as Detective Renee Ballard. Connelly introduced her in his 2017 novel “The Late Show”. In this new role, she tackles an enormous challenge: managing the LAPD’s cold case division, which is known for being underfunded and reliant on volunteer staff. This division holds the largest caseload in the city.

In the series, Q will share screen time with John Carroll Lynch, who previously appeared on American Horror Story, playing Thomas Laffont – a retired detective and former partner of Ballard’s. Welliver is set to return as Harry Bosch, but the extent of his involvement in the show has yet to be determined.

Fans of Bosch can take comfort in knowing that Welliver will feature in Ballard. However, the actor himself remains puzzled, as he had previously discussed Season 4 ideas and plans during conversations halfway through Season 3, only to receive a call stating that the show would not proceed further.

On Amazon Prime Video, you can currently watch both “Bosch” and its spin-off “Bosch: Legacy.” Coming up this summer, the series “Ballard” will make its debut on the same platform.
