At long last, the eagerly awaited game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, previously known as Garou: Mark of the Wolves, is now available for all to enjoy. It’s been over 20 years since the last installment was released, making this a highly anticipated return for the cherished series by SNK. Instead of appearing as guest characters in other fighting games, fan favorites like Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui are back in their own series once more. While the game may appear somewhat minimalist, it does offer a couple of single-player modes to help players hone their skills before diving into online battles. Among these are Episodes of South Town, an RPG-lite mode that offers a distinct narrative for each character and presents numerous matches for players to conquer.
In the game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, during South Town Mode, players traverse a city map using a cursor to choose battles they wish to join. Initially, matches are straightforward since players can quickly grow too strong by acquiring various skills. Additionally, competing in matches that are slightly below or at the character’s level yields easy Experience Points (XP).
However, as players conquer what appears to be every battle across the three map sections, they might realize that progress isn’t completely full. This is because each map has a concealed bonus stage. To achieve 100% Exploration Progress in each region, players must locate and finish these secret stages.
How To Find Secret Stages in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves Episodes of South Town Mode
In the game “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves,” especially in the South Town mode, you might find it challenging since there’s no clue about the location of these secret stages. But don’t worry, locating them is quite straightforward.
To discover the hidden stages, players just need to navigate the cursor across various spots until their controller starts vibrating. This signifies they’re close to the secret stage, so they should focus on moving the cursor in that area for a moment. If the controller stops vibrating, it means they’ve moved away from the secret stage marker. It’s quite challenging to overlook the hidden stage once the cursor is near the marker, and unlocking it only requires a swift circular motion around the area without pressing any buttons. The cursor merely needs to hover over the concealed stage marker for a brief moment to activate it.
It’s important to keep in mind that the hidden levels for each character are unique and not all located in the same region within South Town. Given there are 16 playable characters in total across episodes, it might be worthwhile to explore different areas, as it only takes a moment to check for these stages.
Navigating the hidden levels within “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves” presents an entirely different challenge. Each hidden level incorporates a Gold opponent with a rare 1/66 probability of taking 9999 damage in a single hit. In essence, these opponents can be defeated instantly. However, the remaining 65 potential hits inflict no harm at all. Instead, these stages demand patience over skill, as it may take multiple attempts (up to 10 or more) before landing the decisive blow on even the toughest hidden level. Essentially, mastering these levels relies heavily on luck.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
