Alijah Arenas’ loved ones are navigating a terrifying accident.
18-year-old son of ex-NBA player Gilbert Arenas was admitted to a hospital on April 24 following a collision with a Tesla Cybertruck in LA’s San Fernando Valley, according to NBC News 4 Los Angeles, who received information from a police source.
Early this morning, as reported by multiple sources including the Los Angeles Police Department, there was a single-vehicle accident involving a Cybertruck that crashed into a tree and possibly a fire hydrant. The Los Angeles Fire Department, according to NBC News 4, stated that an 18-year-old male was hospitalized following the crash in a serious but stable condition.
As a lifestyle and wellness expert, I’d like to share an update on the condition of Alijah. Based on reports from ESPN’s Shams Charania, who cited reliable sources, it appears Alijah was put into a medically-induced coma to aid in his recovery from injuries. Fortunately, initial tests seem to indicate that he has not sustained any broken bones.
TopMob News has reached out to reps for Gilbert for comment but has not yet heard back.
As reported by NBC News 4, citing police sources, the exact reason behind Alijah’s accident remains undetermined currently. However, the preliminary investigation is centering around the possibility that excessive speed might have played a role in the incident.
Although Gilbert hasn’t spoken about his son’s accident yet, he postponed the April 24 episode of his “Gil’s Arena” podcast and Underdog Fantasy, the podcast’s parent company, expressed on their platform, “Our sympathies are with our friend and Underdog partner Gilbert Arenas during this challenging time. We kindly ask the Gil’s Arena and Underdog communities to keep Alijah and the entire family in your thoughts.
In a post on Instagram, Alijah’s mom, Laura Govan, expressed her request for everyone’s prayers by writing, “Praying hands emoji, praying hands emoji, I truly need your prayers.
Alijah, chosen as one of 48 players to participate in the McDonald’s All-American Games, is recognized as one of the top high school basketball prospects nationwide. He is among a select few high school basketball players in California history to reach the milestone of scoring 3,000 points, and in January, he made a pledge to join the Trojans at the University of Southern California.
After hearing about the incident, University of Southern California men’s basketball coach Eric Musselman posted an update concerning one of his recruits.
As a devoted supporter, I express my heartfelt sympathies to Alijah and his dear ones after this morning’s unfortunate incident. Let us all hold him, his fellow players, friends, and the entire Arenas family in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
