If you didn’t opt for an unexpected hibernation this week, you’re likely aware that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered was officially announced and released on April 22nd. This event is one of the most significant secret launches in gaming history.
As a thrilled fan, I can’t help but share that the game sparked quite a buzz on Steam the moment it was released. At the time I’m penning this down, it had soared to an impressive peak of 190,000 simultaneous players on Valve’s platform. However, it’s important to note that this figure doesn’t include those playing through Xbox Game Pass, or those who purchased the game for Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5.
Wondering if anyone who reads Windows Central is giving the game a try, and if they are, would love to hear about their experience up until now.
The ideal remaster
I’ve been playing the game since its release, but my hectic work schedule and juggling multiple tasks have prevented me from advancing as far as I intended. At present, I’m engaged in writing a review for Windows Central about Oblivion Remastered; you can anticipate that soon.
To give you an idea up front, I’m absolutely thrilled! The fresh visuals by Virtuos are simply amazing, preserving a lot of Oblivion’s distinctive artistic style, but with significantly greater detail.
Yet, the fundamental allure (as elegantly described by Todd Howard from Bethesda Game Studios) remains undiminished, and I’ve already encountered numerous well-known memes reimagined in the remastered version of Oblivion.
For my part, it seems just right – modernizing an age-old game to captivate a fresh demographic without compromising its essence for seasoned players. I firmly anticipate that, with the passage of time, this remaster will be hailed as one of the greatest of all time in such conversations.
As a tech-loving nostalgic, I find myself immersed in a fresh, contemporary take on the Elder Scrolls universe that’s perfect for those who haven’t experienced its magic before. With The Elder Scrolls 6 still on the horizon, this feels like a brand new adventure to savor!
Windows Central readers, let me know what you think!
