Although Stephanie Arcila (Gabriela) won’t be a recurrent character in Fire Country season 4, she expresses her desire for a future appearance on the show. Arcila has been part of the series since its debut, sharing screen time with Max Thieriot (Bode), Billy Burke (Vince), Kevin Alejandro (Manny), and Jordan Calloway (Jake). In preparation for Fire Country season 4, executive producers have announced that Arcila will not be returning to her leading role in the fourth season, as she left the show at the end of season 3.

During an interview with Deadline, Arcila discussed her feelings after being written off the show. Although it wasn’t her choice, she expressed that she trusts in destiny. She found out about the decision when season 4 was renewed, understanding that this is what she agreed to as an actor. Moreover, the producers also shared how this development would impact Bode and Gabriela, effectively ending their storyline.

ARCILA: Indeed, we were engrossed in filming. Interestingly enough, I discovered the news about our renewal on that very day, which was quite fortunate since I have a fondness for themes revolving around death and renewal. To clarify, I’m not suggesting impending demise but rather, using a similar concept. I’m inclined to believe in destiny and the idea that we find ourselves exactly where we’re meant to be. After all, isn’t this the essence of our profession? This is what we willingly choose to experience.

They mentioned that this could be a brief pause for Bode and Gabriela. It’s understandable because he’s currently involved with someone else, which warrants some time apart.

Instead, she maintains an open attitude about the possibility of coming back. As stated by Arcila, the producers themselves hinted at desiring her return in future seasons, but this would serve as a “break” for Arcila and the entire cast. Here’s her quote:

I’m always open to new experiences, and Gabriela has been such an incredible addition in both my professional and personal life. I feel incredibly fortunate to have portrayed a Latina character on a show, one that allowed me to share elements of my Latin heritage, particularly my Colombian background. It was truly thrilling.

Arcila also reminisced on the time when she bid farewell to her fellow cast members. She revealed to them a surprising news, which left many of them breathless. Yet, she emphasized that she didn’t want it to turn into a somber moment and was instead thrilled for them, despite no longer being present among them.

Initially, yes, there were others present, but during that particular instance, it was primarily Max, myself, and a few firefighters. There’s a large number of firefighters around, some retired, others still active, who serve as extras in the background. Many of them have been with us since Season 1, and they are truly remarkable individuals. Whenever we need assistance or answers on set, aside from our exceptional fire technicians Jeff [Snider] and Simon [Gould], whom I greatly admire and have even invited to teach us additional skills outside of Fire Country, as we’re so passionate about learning. Some of us are eager to learn more about it, aiming to perform our roles accurately.

They too were present, every firefighter who had been there since the very beginning. I recall sharing the news with them all, only to be met with a collective intake of breath that seemed almost audible. I reassured them, “I aim to make this moment not one of sorrow. Instead, let’s all feel excitement. I believe we’ll meet again someday, but for now, I must move on.” And in response, there was a collective intake of breath and a palpable outpouring of affection.

It was unexpectedly poignant for me, given our profound bond, how emotionally intense that evening turned out to be. In retrospect, I hadn’t fully appreciated the depth of our relationship until then. Therefore, it made that farewell all the more memorable and meaningful.
