Doctor Who’s overnight ratings confirmed – figures bounce back with The Well

In the fifteenth season of Doctor Who, there was a significant increase in viewership for the third episode, recovering from the lowest rating of the series seen in the previous week.

In a fresh escapade, dubbed “The Well,” our protagonists, the Doctor and Belinda, found themselves on a distant planet in time’s grasp, where they faced a chilling being reminiscent of those seen during the David Tennant era of Doctor Who.

On the evening of Saturday, 26th April, BBC One broadcasted the show “The Well” at 6:50 pm, which drew in approximately 1.9 million viewers during the nighttime hours.

Compared to last week’s episode of Lux, which had just 1.58 million viewers and recorded the lowest overnight viewing figures ever for the series, there was a significant increase this time around.

Overall, The Well ranked as the fourth most popular show of the day, with ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, The 1% Club, and BBC One’s second most-watched program airing ahead of it.

Indeed, it’s important to mention that these statistics do not factor in viewers who watched the episode on BBC iPlayer before its airing on BBC One, as it became available for on-demand viewing at 8 am on Saturday morning.

The combined evaluation (covering iPlayer, devices, and catch-up services) will be revealed at a future time.

As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I eagerly anticipated the latest episode that Russell T Davies had earlier described as the scariest of this season. True to his words, it was a gripping experience! This installment brought Ncuti Gatwa and Varada Sethu back to our screens once more, while also welcoming some fresh faces into the mix – Rose Ayling-Ellis and Christopher Chung. I can hardly wait for what unfolds next!

The installment additionally treated viewers to what could be Mrs. Flood’s most captivating appearance yet, edging fans a step further in discovering who she truly is.

Season 15 of Doctor Who resumes on the 3rd of May, 2025. You can stream it from 8 am on BBC iPlayer, while it will also be broadcasted at 7:20 pm on BBC One.
