In the second half of “The Apothecary Diaries” Season 2, we delve deeper into the day-to-day life of Maomao within the Inner Court. The initial portion of this season followed the caravan, hosted visiting dignitaries, and exposed Jinhsi as the future king of the kingdom by revealing his identity as the Crown Prince. Although it was hinted at in the first season that Jinshi was a member of royalty, his role as the Crown Prince significantly elevates his importance. Even with his secret identity, Jinshi’s growing affection and trust for Maomao lead him to try and disclose his true self. However, Maomao, who generally avoids trouble, takes various steps to prevent him from exposing his secret.
In the aftermath of his hunting expedition, Jinshi’s emotions are intricate. Meanwhile, the narrative shifts towards the Inner Court. Despite a history marred by rough patches, Maomao brings her father, Luomen, into the Inner Court. Upon learning about Concubine Gyokuyou’s pregnancy complications and the possibility of surgical intervention, Maomao proposes they seek help from her adoptive father. However, with Luomen’s return, Maomao manages to expose a significant secret hidden in the rear palace. As we anticipate the series revealing its enigmas, it is announced that the second season will experience an unforeseen delay.
The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 Delays Episode 19
On Friday, May 16th, 2025, the airing of ‘The Pharmacist’s Monologue’ has been postponed due to programming changes. In its place, a special episode of ‘The Apothecary Diaries‘ will be shown for free on the ABEMA Anime Channel starting at 11 pm on the same day.
In this upcoming unique installment, you’ll hear the talented voice artists behind Jinshi, Gaoshun, and Basen. Moreover, it will unveil fresh faces joining the cast. Consequently, after Episode 18, the anime is set to introduce new characters into the storyline. Lastly, fan-favorite antagonist Suirei makes her return, hinting at a deeper exploration of her backstory and intentions. This suggests we’re edging closer to uncovering the truth behind her past and her objectives.
Originally scheduled for release on May 16th, Season 2 Episode 19 has been moved to May 23rd instead. But don’t worry, Episodes 17 and 18 will air as planned on May 2nd and 9th respectively. With a total of 24 episodes in Season 2, we can expect the season to conclude in June 2025, assuming there are no additional delays.
