On June 5th, Sega has affirmed that the game Sonic X Shadow Generations will debut on the Nintendo Switch 2. Remarkably, it’s set to release globally on the same day. This is exciting news for novice players, but those who already own the Switch 1 version should be aware of a few conditions.
Data saved on the Nintendo Switch game can be moved to the new Switch 2 system, but it’s important to note that this transfer is one-way – only from Switch 1 to Switch 2. Unfortunately, there are no benefits for pre-ordering or purchasing early, and it’s not possible to upgrade Switch 1 to Switch 2, whether you’re referring to the base game or any downloadable content (DLC).
Additionally, as it comes on a Game-Key Card, Switch 2 users will have to download around 24 GB to set up the physical version. It’s important to note that you might require extra storage for potential updates as well.
According to a recent report, many third-party games for the Nintendo Switch 2 are coming on Game-Key Cards, meaning they need to be downloaded upon purchase. However, there are some exceptions such as the Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, which has a cartridge size of 64 GB.
You can find “Sonic X Shadow Generations” on the following platforms: Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Take a look at our review for more information.
