Kim Kardashian is going to court.
Approximately a decade ago, one of the Kardashians was held up at gunpoint by five masked individuals who broke into her hotel room at the No Address Hotel in Paris during Paris Fashion Week. Once they had silenced and bound her with cables and tape, the thieves put her in the bathtub while they made off with jewelry valued at over $10 million—among which was a $4 million ring belonging to her then-spouse, Kanye West.
After a thorough probe into the October 2016 event, it was determined that 10 individuals would be brought up on charges.
Before the upcoming trial, slated for April 28 through May 23, where the SKIMS founder is expected to testify, let’s delve into the latest developments in this unfolding case.
What Happened During Kim Kardashian’s Paris Robbery?
In the wee hours of October 3, 2016, the founder of SKIMS was by herself, wrapped in her bathrobe, while Kourtney Kardashian and her assistant were swapping their clothes downstairs. This is what she shared in a spoken statement to French authorities, which was later reported in the newspaper ‘Le Journal du Dimanche’.
In her account, Kim described an incident where two individuals forcibly entered her bedroom, donning hooded jackets labeled “Police.” One of them, with a ski mask concealing his face, threatened her with a gun and requested information about the location of her wedding ring.
After complying, she informed the authorities that the robbers had forced her onto the bed, emptied her purse, tied her up using plastic cables, covered her mouth with tape, and bound her legs together with more tape. They subsequently moved her to the bathtub and departed, allowing her to remain there until they made their escape. Once they were gone, she rushed to a neighboring room to contact Kourtney.
What Was Stolen During Kim Kardashian’s Paris Robbery?
As Kim was confined in the bathtub, the thieves absconded with a Louis Vuitton jewelry box filled with valuable items such as two diamond Cartier bracelets, a Lorraine Schwartz diamond necklace, diamond earrings, gold Jacob necklaces, a gold Rolex watch, a necklace bearing the name “Saint” (their son’s name), and her iPhone 6, Blackberry, and other high-end possessions.
What Has Kim Kardashian Said About Her Paris Robbery?
After the robbery, Kim mostly avoided public attention for several months. However, over the course of the next year, she gradually became more forthcoming about her thoughts and feelings during that period.
In a 2017 episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians”, she told her sisters Kourtney and Khloe, “I was betrayed; they’re going to ambush me from behind,” describing the harrowing night of the robbery. It still brings tears to her eyes when she recalls it.
And she was also candid about the ways in which the robbery affected her mental health.
Kim explained on an episode of ‘The Alec Baldwin Show’ that same year, ‘For a solid stretch, I felt far from myself.’ I wasn’t clinically depressed, but I lacked the drive to rise and work as I once did. It was disconcerting.
But despite the horrors, Kim expressed that she was “grateful” for the life-changing incident.
The 44-year-old shared, “Though it was terrible and I wouldn’t want anyone else to experience it, it had a profound impact on me that allowed me to rediscover myself. Previously, I defined myself based on my possessions – ‘I am so valuable because of what I have.’ But this perspective needed to shift within me.

As an ardent enthusiast, I can’t help but share the news about ten individuals, affectionately known as “the grandpa robbers” because of their advanced years during the crime, standing trial for the audacious Paris heist they orchestrated!
In accordance with NBC News, some of the defendants involve the suspected mastermind Aomar “Old Omar” Ait Khedache, aged 69, his son Harminy, 37, Didier “Blue Eyes” Dubreucq, also 69, the brother of Kim’s Paris limo driver, Gary Madar, 35, and Christiane Glotin, who is charged with aiding in the planning of the robbery.
In my line of expertise, I’ve noticed that the legal system in France doesn’t require formal pleas, but nevertheless, Yunice Abbas has openly acknowledged his role in the alleged crimes.
A theft, right in the center of Paris! Reminds me of days gone by,” Abbas penned about the occurrence in his 2021 book, I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian, claiming he was unaware of their victim’s identity during their peaceful escapades. “A thrill runs up my back.
