Oblivion Remastered PS5 Patch in Limbo as Xbox Users Get a Performance Boost

Just recently, an update for the remastered version of Oblivion was rolled out for both Xbox and PC platforms, yet there’s been no indication so far when this update will be available on PS5.

It’s intriguing that Bethesda didn’t provide any details about the update through a patch note, leaving some players puzzled over the weekend as they tried to figure out its effects.

It appears that this update is designed primarily to enhance the game’s technical efficiency, as evidenced by improved frame rates for Xbox users. However, PC gamers have encountered an unexpected issue: some graphics settings have been eliminated, leading to decreased performance and the emergence of new visual glitches.

It’s important to note that while the Xbox version of this open-world RPG is currently imperfect, according to Digital Foundry’s reports. Similar performance issues are present on PS5, where maintaining a consistent 60 frames per second can be challenging, particularly when exploring Cyrodiil’s landscapes outdoors.

Indeed, even though the recent update seems beneficial – as Digital Foundry indicates, it may boost the frame rate by as much as 16 frames – there is still quite a distance left before it reaches optimal performance.

It seems logical to expect that the same update would benefit the PlayStation 5 version of Oblivion Remastered; however, as yet, there has been no sign of this update on Sony’s platform.

There’s a chance it might be stuck in Sony’s update approval process for PlayStation, or maybe it’s simply not quite ready yet. If and when the patch goes live on PS5, we’ll certainly report on it.
