Star Wars Is About to Join a Different Streaming Service for the First Time

Ever since Disney+ debuted in 2019, it has predominantly served as the sole streaming platform for the entire Star Wars saga. Previously, films such as “Solo: A Star Wars Story” were available on Netflix due to previous streaming agreements. However, the original Star Wars trilogy was always exclusive to Disney+. This exclusivity is about to end in a few days, as four Star Wars movies, including all three from the original trilogy, will be moving to another streaming service.

Starting May 1st., some iconic Star Wars films such as “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope,” “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back,” and “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi” will be moving to Hulu. Additionally, the 2016 film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” will also be available on the platform. These movies are being added specifically to the individual Hulu lineup, so you can watch them even if you don’t have a Disney+ subscription.

Disney is choosing to manage these properties internally, moving them to one of their other streaming platforms instead of giving a competitor access to such a popular franchise as Star Wars. However, this doesn’t imply that the content on Disney+ will significantly change. In fact, all Star Wars titles will eventually be accessible on both Disney+ and Hulu once they’ve been transferred to Hulu.

For the very first time, all parts of the Star Wars trilogy will be accessible online beyond Disney+. As of now, no information has been shared regarding how long these will stay on Hulu, nor is it clear whether more Star Wars films will follow suit at a later date.

Coming Soon to Hulu
