The missing Alien v Predator scenes

It’s often true that filmmaker Paul W.S. Anderson faces criticism upon release of his new movies, but many of his works are later reevaluated in a more favorable light. For instance, films like “Event Horizon” and the original “Alien vs. Predator” have gained a cult following over time. The first “Alien vs. Predator” was a groundbreaking monster mashup that did well enough to inspire a sequel, but the second one was dismal and effectively ended any further hybrid films. However, in a recent interview, Anderson discussed the unfilmed scenes from these movies, particularly those from “Alien vs. Predator,” mentioning some set pieces from the script that didn’t make it to production. Here’s what he had to say…

In my initial screenplay, certain scenes were omitted due to budget constraints. These missing parts aimed to provide additional glimpses into the Predator’s past, especially during the Earth period. The final film showcases only two timeframes: the Aztec era and the present day. I had envisioned inserting significant milestones, with the first being set in snowy conditions during the Battle of the Bulge [WWII]. Here, American soldiers would encounter a Predator, which would have been thrilling. Another scene was planned for around the same time as Prey, featuring Native Americans and Predators. It’s unclear if this influenced the creation of Prey, but it was a two-page sequence in the original script that we eventually cut out. These scenes would have served as flashbacks, shedding light on the gradual awareness within the American military-industrial complex about the existence of Predators. When Weyland [launches the expedition], he’s going armed with individuals who know they aren’t just on a scientific mission.

…..and those were the missing Alien v Predator scenes!
