Considering it’s likely that fragments of the Maya Pei Brigade are still present on the planet, the Rebellion might have to tolerate their actions against Porko, as they strive for control of the base essential for their anticipated assault on the Death Star. Additionally, the character name Porko is a subtle homage to an esteemed anime series, featuring an Italian aviator who pursues air pirates in a 1929 alternate reality. Due to his pilot status and the exchange of an advanced TIE fighter in this encounter, the connection between Andor’s Porko and the original character is evident.

In essence, Porko serves as an integral background element rather than a fully-developed character within the narrative. His presence subtly enhances the authenticity of a grand creative world such as Star Wars, particularly in depicting the tumultuous phase of the Rebellion as Luthen Rael’s “Axis network” of spies and fighters coalesces into a formidable force.
