WWE Reveals Who Attacked Bayley, Sets Up Title Match at Backlash

During the second hour of WWE Raw, fans received clarity regarding one of the most astonishing events from the previous week. This clarification also established a significant Championship bout for WWE Backlash. Last week saw an unexpected villainous shift by Becky Lynch, as she assaulted her Tag Team partner, Lyra Valkyria, following their loss of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships. In this episode, Lynch elucidated the reasons behind her betrayal and admitted that she was indeed responsible for taking out Bayley backstage, which cost Bayley a match at WrestleMania. Valkyria interjected, challenging Lynch’s words and seemingly unsettling her, resulting in a Title clash between these two powerhouses at Backlash.

To begin with, Lynch initiated by speaking to Bayley, making it clear that The Man was responsible for removing Bayley from her WrestleMania match off-stage. “Unfortunately, Bayley had to withdraw from her WrestleMania bout,” Lynch stated. “However, there won’t be a prolonged investigation or whodunit scenario. I have thoroughly examined the evidence and rewatched the footage, and we have identified the perpetrator.” “I am the one responsible,” Lynch admitted. “It was me who did it!

Lynch was overjoyed with this discovery, but the audience began to jeer, which she strongly objected to. “Absolutely not, don’t portray me as the villain here. Don’t pretend to be outraged. That woman has been attacking me since 2019, and not once did she ever apologize to me. But we’re supposed to forget about that, just like Byayley seems to overlook the nature of this business,” Lynch asserted.

Lynch observed that the individual was seeking attention by wearing others’ clothes, dancing to their music, and asking why she wasn’t more famous. However, Lynch made it clear that the person could witness what a bigger star looked like upon Lynch’s arrival at WrestleMania.

After that, Lynch transitioned to Valkyria, and once more, Bayley elicited her displeasure. “If not for me, Lyra wouldn’t be in this line of work,” Lynch remarked. “I had great expectations for Lyra. I thought she was going to be the future, but while I was away, she was getting close to the woman I’ve been feuding with for the past 6 years? Even then, I still tried to help her. Tried to persuade her to leave that woman behind. If not for Bayley, Lyra wouldn’t have won those Tag Team Titles, but it was too late. She had already been tainted. She’s already a failure,” Lynch stated.

Valkyria shared with Lynch that numerous individuals had alerted her about Lynch’s strategies, among them being Bayley. “You might be surprised to learn how many people in the locker room cautioned me about you. In fact, Bayley was one of the earliest ones to do so. She told me that you would trample on everyone just to get ahead,” Valkyria explained. “I didn’t believe any of it because I was deeply engrossed in this enchanting fantasy of winning Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania. I didn’t believe any of it because I had great expectations for your abilities.

Valkyrie pursued Lynch, but as Lynch exited the ring, Valkyrie aimed to provoke The Man slightly. “Is it because you’re recalling our previous one-on-one encounter where I defeated you and claimed your NXT Championship?” Valkyrie taunted. Eager for a rematch, Valkyrie proposed a contest for the NXT Women’s Intercontinental Championship, which Lynch agreed to.

In simpler terms,

Lynch stated, “Alright, let’s get this show on the road. I’m about to make this fight as important as you are to me.” Valkyria immediately responded, “I’m going to surpass you in character and I’ve already proven I’m a better wrestler than you.” This comment angered Lynch, causing her to pace around the ring while getting agitated. This gave Valkyria the chance to deliver a dropkick. Valkyria unleashed several attacks, but Lynch escaped and went over the barricade, seemingly leaving the venue. However, Lynch sneakily returned and then assaulted Valkyria on the ramp before disappearing backstage.

Following the contest, Lynch strolled backstage and shared a video, stating, “That’s why I’m number one, folks,” as she departed. This declaration marked the formal confirmation of the match, making it the second bout on the premium live event’s program. For a complete rundown of the card, please see below.
