Is there romance in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, there’s an opportunity for a romantic experience that becomes available once you have the power to control Verso.

As a gamer, I find that engaging in heartfelt conversations with fellow campers is the key to unveiling romantic possibilities within the game. However, these enchanting interactions can only be experienced once specific bonding thresholds have been surpassed.

The romantic aspect of the story is entirely optional, offering only character-specific scenes that can be enjoyed if chosen.

All romance options in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

There are only two romance options available in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – Lune and Sciel.

Apologies to Monocow fans everywhere, as it seems that while Verso and the Gestral may appear to share romantic feelings, their bond remains strictly platonic. The same applies to Esquie.

How does romance work in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

As previously mentioned, you can romance characters by talking to them repeatedly at camp.

After chatting with your potential love interest on several occasions, you will find yourself presented with various dialogue choices. These choices could lead to either confirming your feelings or deciding against pursuing them further.

Keep in mind that by opting to pursue a romantic relationship with one character, you will be unable to do so with another until we reach the “new game plus” stage. Make your decision carefully!

How to romance Sciel in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

To romance Sciel, you need to reach relationship Level 4 with her during Act 2 of the game.

In my gaming world, when I engage her character for a level-up, she’ll reveal pieces of her past before proposing an exciting journey together. It’s time to uncover the secrets of our shared story!

Choose “Are you really questioning this?” if you want to affirm your bond, or pick “Well, truthfully, I’m feeling rather tired” if you’re reserving yourself for Lune – in both cases, you’ll advance to Level 4.

As the game progresses, when you transition from Level 5 to Level 6, you’ll be teaching Sciel how to swim while she reveals more about her past.

In a new development, she presents the possibility for you both to rekindle your romantic feelings, as she proposes spending the night on an isolated island together.

In the realm of romance, opt for “Let’s make this moment special.”

To decline politely, consider saying, “I appreciate your suggestion, but it’s not something I feel comfortable with at the moment.”

Both choices will lead you to Level 6 in our interaction.

How to romance Lune in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Unlike Sciel, Lune cannot be romanced at all until you reach Act 3 of the game.

At Level 5 in your relationship, she might give you a brief peck on the cheek, but for a more romantic connection, you’ll have to progress to Level 7.

To advance from Level 6 to Level 7, initially, you must accomplish a supplementary mission assigned by her. This task leads you to Sirene’s Dress, a destination situated on the eastern part of Sirene island.

As a gamer, I found myself in the final, mysterious outpost – the last known whereabouts of my parent explorers, part of Expedition 46. My mission? To conquer the enigmatic Chromatic Glissando that haunts this place and uncover the elusive Expedition 46 Journal entry hidden within.

After completing all your tasks, you’ll return to the camp where Lune will be strumming a guitar. If you haven’t yet pursued Sciel romantically, you’ll have an opportunity to collaborate on a song with Lune, should that be clear enough for you.
