Actress Natasha Lyonne, known for her role in “Poker Face,” is about to step into a new role: directing. But this isn’t your typical directorial debut. Instead of a conventional film, she’s diving into the world of artificial intelligence. The five-time Emmy nominee has co-written an AI-focused project, but there’s a twist – it combines traditional filmmaking techniques with AI-generated visuals.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Natalie Portman (Lyonne) is set to helm and star in the movie titled “Uncanny Valley“, which she co-wrote with Brit Marling. This project will see them both appearing on screen. Asteria, the innovative AI studio that Lyonne helped establish, will produce this film. As the title implies, “Uncanny Valley ” will seamlessly integrate live-action and artificial intelligence-generated components. However, it’s important to note that AI technology is heavily emphasized in this production, given its extensive use throughout the film. The Hollywood Reporter has shared a brief synopsis of the storyline:
The film focuses around a teenager who is greatly affected by an extremely popular augmented reality video game. It will skillfully combine real-life scenes with elements from the game.
More to come.
