Stack frequently asks Sammie to play his guitar and seems to have grand plans for his cousin’s future, particularly ahead of his upcoming performance at the juke joint.

At first, Sammie doesn’t comprehend Smoke’s reluctance, but as the events of that night unfold, he gains a deeper understanding of Smoke’s unyielding determination to safeguard those he cherishes.

Sammie emerges victorious following a grueling battle against Remmick and other vampires, thanks to Smoke’s warnings but still opting for music and departing from home. Yet, he never forgets Smoke and the help he provided. In the mid-credits scene of Sinners, Mary and Stack, now vampires themselves, meet Sammie in the ’90s. Interestingly, he wears a hat similar to one Smoke used to wear, hinting that over the years since that fateful night, Sammie has adopted Smoke’s more pragmatic mindset. No longer is he an innocent child but a seasoned individual who refuses to be taken advantage of, even when confronted by the very creatures who disrupted his life.
