PSA: Diablo 4 new battle pass is broken — do not buy the Reliquary

Diablo 4 Season 8, “Belial’s Return,” was launched recently, and enthusiasts of Diablo are already expressing their frustration. This agitation might stem from the current issues surrounding the new Battle Pass system, Reliquaries, which appears to be deducting players’ Platinum without granting them the pass upon purchase. For now, it’s best to exercise caution and avoid purchasing the pass until a solution for this problem is implemented.

Do not buy the reliquary! Massive bug! from r/diablo4

Diablo 4 Reliquary is bugged

At present, there’s no formal announcement from Blizzard regarding this matter, however, their community representatives are actively collecting opinions about it on Reddit at the moment.

2025-04-29: As a tech enthusiast, I’ve been looking forward to trying out the new reliquary system, but it seems there’s a snag. The 1000 Platinum I paid is nowhere to be found, yet all my content remains locked. Perhaps it’ll function as intended someday, though it feels like they may have swindled me out of ten dollars’ worth of digital goods. At this point, I guess it doesn’t really matter anymore.

A Redditor claims they purchased the Deluxe Battle Pass, but nothing has been unlocked for them, even though the game indicates it’s active. The Reliquaries remain locked for this user. Other users have reported having 1000 Platinum deducted from their balance, yet no cosmetics on the pass are being unlocked for them.

Can’t redeem pass from a previous season?

In Diablo 4, the shift from the conventional Battle Pass system to Reliquaries has added an extra layer of complexity. Earlier, players who obtained a Battle Pass, like those with the Ultimate version of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, had the option to postpone redeeming it for a future season. For example, if someone decided not to redeem their Battle Pass during Season 6, it would remain saved on their account, waiting to be activated in a subsequent season instead.

With the arrival of the Reliquaries system, a number of gamers have expressed frustration because they are unable to cash in their leftover Battle Passes from past seasons. This new development has predictably sparked anger among players.

I’m crossing my fingers that Blizzard tackles this problem promptly, since it could simply be another bump in the road during the excitement of a new season debut. Rest assured, we’ll keep a close eye on things and bring you updates as they come.
