The awaited premiere date for the upcoming Dexter sequel series has officially been announced, with a summer release planned for subscribers. Additionally, a fresh teaser trailer for this new installment of Dexter has recently surfaced.
According to the announcement made in the preview, “Dexter: Resurrection” is scheduled to debut on July 11, 2025. In this brief look, Michael C. Hall’s character Dexter Morgan is seen reading a newspaper with the headline, “DEXTER MORGAN IS DEAD.” This refers to the way his character was left at the end of “Dexter: New Blood,” apparently deceased, but later discovered to still be alive. Hall’s Dexter is depicted smirking in reaction to the news, suggesting that reports of his death may have been prematurely declared. The full teaser can be found below for your viewing pleasure.
Resurrection” unfolds a few weeks following an incident where Dexter gets shot by his son. When he regains consciousness from a coma, Harrison has vanished without a clue. Stricken with guilt over his actions towards his son, Dexter embarks on a journey to New York City in search of him, hoping to mend their relationship. However, finding peace won’t be straightforward. The appearance of Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) raises questions that make Dexter realize his past is closing in on him quickly. As father and son traverse the city that never sleeps, they soon discover they are in deeper trouble than anticipated – and the only way out may be by sticking together.
Several Familiar Faces Will Be Featured in Dexter: Resurrection
In the upcoming series, Michael C. Hall will be joined by Jack Alcott playing Dexter’s son Harrison, and David Zayas reprising his role as Angel Batista. Interestingly, other original stars are also returning, including James Remar who will portray Harry Morgan, Dexter’s father. Additionally, Uma Thurman, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Emilia Suarez, and Peter Dinklage have all been confirmed for the show. Furthermore, some notable guest stars include Krysten Ritter, Neil Patrick Harris, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian. The creator of the original series, Clyde Phillips, is taking on an executive producer role, alongside Michael C. Hall, Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and Marco Siega.
A common criticism leveled against Dexter: New Blood was that it appeared to have permanently written off Dexter at the finale. However, it seems unlikely that the final episode of the inaugural season of Dexter: Resurrection will follow suit, as hints suggest a different ending. It’s uncertain if the series will be renewed for a second season with Dexter’s narrative continuing, but given the numerous spinoffs in development, it seems the franchise is expanding further.
Dexter: Resurrection will premiere on July 25, 2025.
