In the second season of ‘Wednesday’, there’s an exciting reunion planned, reminiscent of ‘Edward Scissorhands’. Fans have finally been treated to the first trailer for Season 2 of ‘Wednesday’, offering a tantalizing peek into the thrilling escapades that Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams is expected to embark upon. The creator and director of ‘Wednesday’, Tim Burton, is once again collaborating with an old friend to enrich the show’s cast. According to ‘Variety’, Anthony Michael Hall has signed on to be part of the cast for ‘Wednesday’ Season 2. Hall previously worked with Burton on the iconic 1990 horror film, ‘Edward Scissorhands’, where he played the film’s main antagonist.
Anthony Michael Hall is currently featured on Amazon Prime Video’s “Reacher,” Netflix’s movie “Trigger Warning” and “Halloween Kills.” Additionally, he made an appearance in the 50th anniversary episode of “Saturday Night Live,” where he was a cast member from 1985 to 1986. The details regarding his role in “Wednesday” Season 2 are not yet disclosed, nor is the extent of his involvement in future episodes.
Jenna Ortega reveals that the upcoming season of Wednesday will be pushing boundaries, especially in the horror genre. Ortega hinted at a chilling scene involving Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) that echoes Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket. This creative liberty is largely due to the impressive performance of Wednesday in Season 1, as Netflix has given them a bit more artistic freedom.
Ortega shared with Collider, “The visuals were incredibly fun, something we’ve never experienced before. One particular frame stands out – it shows Pugsley with this odd contraption around his head and his eyes rolling back, which brings to mind Full Metal Jacket. It’s just so unexpectedly bizarre.
As a die-hard movie buff, I couldn’t help but point out the chilling slasher-themed episode as a pivotal part of this fresh season. “It’s like they’ve filled the series with countless terrifying scenes and frames, and even dedicated an entire episode to the horror genre, referencing classic slashers left and right.” Ortega also mentioned that the newfound trust from the creative team enabled them to craft “more complex and intricate sequences – ones that truly elevate the overall horror experience.
Lady Gaga is among the well-known figures who have signed up for the upcoming production titled Wednesday. Alongside her, other notable guest stars include Christopher Lloyd from The Addams Family, Joanna Lumley of Absolutely Fabulous, Thandiwe Newton known for her role in Westworld, Frances O’Connor who starred in The Twelve, Haley Joel Osment famous for his work in Somebody I Used to Know, Heather Matarazzo recognized from The Princess Diaries, and Joonas Suotamo, who has worked on The Acolyte.
On Wednesdays, Jenna Ortega takes center stage as Wednesday Addams, starting off after the family sends her to Nevermore Academy, the very place where Gomez and Morticia Addams fell in love. In this academy, Wednesday finds herself entangled in a local mystery, making new acquaintances, and honing her psychic talents. Netflix has announced that Season 2 will be divided into two halves – with Part 1 premiering on August 6th, followed by Part 2 on September 3rd.
Among the latest additions to the cast, we have Steve Buscemi from “The Big Lebowski”, Billie Piper known for her role in “Scoop”, Evie Templeton recognized for her work in “Return to Silent Hill”, Owen Painter famous for his part in “The Handmaid’s Tale”, and Noah Taylor, who starred in “Park Avenue”.
