A Minecraft Movie’s Steve now holds the same record in both the U.S. and the UK

Four weeks after its release, the buzz surrounding the “Minecraft” movie remains strong, with the film’s soundtrack now grabbing attention as well.

After breaking the record for the shortest track to enter the UK Top 40 charts, Steve’s Lava Chicken has now achieved the same feat on the US Billboard Top 100.

According to Variety, Jack Black has set a new record with a 34-second long jingle for his Overworld chicken shack, beating the previous time by three seconds.

The song ranked 78th overall, and simultaneously secured the tenth position on the Hot Rock Songs list. In that span from April 18 to April 24, Steve’s Lava Chicken garnered an astounding 7 million streams.

After Black achieved the same feat in the UK by entering the Top 40 at position 24, this record did not halt its progression. In fact, it has continued to rise and is currently ranked at number 11.

In the film, everyone was confident that with Jack Black involved, music would feature prominently. Just as his song “Peaches” from The Super Mario Bros. Movie took off virally, so did the catchy tune for Lava Chicken – it’s now a viral phenomenon too!

As I stand here, I can’t help but marvel at the staggering success of the Minecraft Movie. By all accounts and measures, it has truly taken the world by storm, raking in an astounding $816 million at the global box office so far.

Warner Bros. has unveiled a series of unique “Block Party Editions” screenings in North America and certain global locations. These events invite everyone to sing along exuberantly to the catchy tune “LA LA LA LAVA CH CH CH CHICKEN” at their loudest!
