With the main filming of “Avengers: Doomsday” now underway, Kevin Feige has disclosed that Florence Pugh has already filmed a segment for the upcoming team-up movie. During the premiere event for “Thunderbolts,” Marvel Studios president Feige announced that “Doomsday” officially started production on Monday, April 28th. Pugh seemed taken aback by Feige’s statement, as she has already shot footage for “Doomsday.” When asked to clarify, Feige explained that Pugh’s work on the ensemble film was done before principal photography, which Pugh understood as a significant recognition.
According to Feige, we’ll be kicking things off on [April 28]. “Kicking things off?” Pugh questioned, and Feige clarified, “[It] was a day prior to photography that you participated in.
“I feel so lucky,” Pugh joked.
Marvel Studios unveiled the cast for “Avengers: Doomsday” during an online event in late March, wrapping up the occasion by confirming that filming had begun. However, it was later disclosed by Feige that the actual first day of shooting wasn’t until late April. The Russo brothers celebrated the start of production by posting a backstage photo of Robert Downey Jr.’s set chair on their social media platforms.
In the upcoming movie “Avengers: Doomsday,” Pugh is among the star-studded cast of the Thunderbolts who will make an appearance. The film has gained more significance within the Multiverse Saga following a live stream event, as it was also announced that Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, and Lewis Pullman are reprising their roles.
The movie “Avengers: Doomsday” involves a large number of actors, making it challenging when organizing schedules. As the Russos were about to start filming, Pugh had commitments for “Thunderbolts”, such as a previously mentioned press conference. One solution to deal with these conflicts is to bring some people in ahead of time for “pre-photography days” to get a head start on what’s required. It appears that Pugh filmed footage for “Doomsday” in late March before starting the “Thunderbolts” promotional tour. Most likely, she will rejoin the “Doomsday” team at a later stage to shoot the remaining scenes.
According to Feige’s remarks, Florence Pugh has only filmed a single day for “Doomsday” thus far. It will be intriguing to discover the extent of her role in the Avengers movie. The Thunderbolts are just one of several superhero teams featured in the film, with Earth’s Mightiest and the original X-Men members also making an appearance. With such a large cast, it’s possible that some characters may have limited screen time. Let’s hope Pugh’s character Yelena isn’t overlooked. Critics often praise Pugh in early “Thunderbolts” reviews, suggesting that she could play a significant role in the Avengers, possibly stepping into her late sister’s shoes. As one of Marvel’s most promising actors, the Russo brothers should make full use of Pugh’s talent.
