All Sheryl Crow wants to do is focus on family.
Indeed, the singer of “If It Makes You Happy” shared uncommon details about her personal affairs. She revealed that she arrived at this realization shortly following her split with Lance Armstrong in 2006, along with her cancer diagnosis, move from Hollywood to Nashville during the early 2000s.
In an interview published on April 30, Sheryl shared that everyone encounters times when they need to change direction, or pivot. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, and she relocated here in 2007.
Lance, who is 63 years old and has three children with his first wife Kristin Richard, commented, “After ending a relationship where I thought we were going to get married and getting close to the kids that might have been my stepchildren, followed by my diagnosis, these events made me reevaluate my life.
She expressed that upon seeing it, she felt a strong desire to establish herself and start a family in the Tennessee capital. Her sisters reside here, and her entire family lives within a three-hour radius, which led her to embark on the next stage of her life.
In the year 2007, Sheryl welcomed Wyatt, who was then eighteen years old, into her family through adoption. Three years after that, she expanded her family by adopting Levi, who was fifteen at the time, in a private adoption arrangement.
Currently, the Grammy-winning artist puts her children first in her life. As Sheryl mentioned, she had plans to extend her performances on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour with Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan beyond Labor Day this year, but her sons have school commitments and they prefer not to travel at this time.
She clarified, “I cherish every moment with them so much that I don’t want to miss a single one, as I feel like my 18-year-old son was only recently born, and he will be off to college soon.
Once her children no longer need her at home, Sheryl plans to return to work full-time as she finds immense pleasure in engaging in activities related to work. She expressed this by saying, “I’ll be back to work full time,” because the joy that work brings to her is particularly strong.
Regarding Lance, since his retirement from cycling, he has grown his family further. Together with his wife, Anna Hansen, they have two children: Maxwell, born in 2009 who is now 15 years old, and Olivia, born in 2010 at the age of 14.
What’s more, the 53-year-old has no bad blood with Sheryl, who he’s described as a “great lady.”
Lance expressed during his 2017 interview on The Howard Stern Show that it seemed things didn’t go as planned, but he believes and wishes she is content. He added, “I’m content myself.
For a closer look at Sheryl’s dating history, keep reading.
Back in the late ’90s, I found myself briefly entwined with a musical legend, Eric Clapton – a man who carries the wisdom of seventeen additional years on his shoulders. Our bond didn’t endure for long, but it’s said that it may have sparked the creation of one of my most popular songs, “My Favorite Mistake.” This tune delves into the complexities of a past lover who couldn’t resist straying. Yet, I’ve never confirmed the song’s true inspiration and, during our 1999 concert in Central Park, I proudly introduced Eric as nothing more than a dear friend of mine. Fast-forward to today, his presence on my upcoming album Threads is a testament to the fact that our friendship remains vibrant and unyielding.
1999 saw Crow start dating Owen Wilson following their encounter on the set of the relatively unknown movie “The Minus Man”, where she first appeared acting as one of Wilson’s serial killer character’s victims. For a period of two years, they were together and were even spotted at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in 2000. In the notes accompanying her 2002 album “C’mon, C’mon”, she revealed that the song “Safe and Sound” was penned for him, offering a glimpse into their relationship.
During the first part of 2003, Crow was romantically involved with Josh Charles, the star of ‘The Good Wife’. They even attended the Grammy Awards together in February. However, by April, their relationship had ended. A source revealed to ‘Us Weekly’ that “They are no longer together. She is searching for The One, but he was not it.
In October of 2003, Crow started dating the well-known (and later disgraced) cyclist Lance Armstrong following a chance encounter at a charity event. This was shortly after his divorce from Kristin Richards, the mother of his three children. By September 2005, they were engaged and living together on a ranch in Austin. However, their relationship didn’t last, as they announced their separation in February 2006. Their statement at the time read, “After careful deliberation, we have made a difficult decision to part ways. We both hold a deep affection and regard for each other, and ask that our privacy be respected during this challenging period.
2006, the year that Ryan Seacrest was reportedly linked to Teri Hatcher (the host of American Idol), also sparked whispers about a brief romance between him and Crow. However, since there’s scant evidence to support this claim, it remains unclear whether these were unfounded online speculations or hidden facts. The truth might forever remain elusive.
In 2006, Crow was observed dining with actor Hank Azaria, leading to speculation that the two were romantically involved. However, Patricia Arquette was also at this dinner, adding fuel to the rumors. Neither party has confirmed these rumors and they haven’t been seen together since then.
In the year 2008, it was announced that Crow started seeing film producer Steve Bing, who was previously linked to Elizabeth Hurley, following rumors of an introduction by their mutual friend Jennifer Aniston towards the end of 2007. According to a source, their relationship grew closer around that time, and they were reportedly connecting well due to shared interests that surprised many. This information was shared with Star magazine in March of that year.
Following Doyle Bramhall II, a frequent collaborator and bandmate of Eric Clapton, producing her 2010 album titled “100 Miles from Memphis”, Crow deepened her professional bond with him at the 2011 Spring Ball of The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, marking their first public appearance together. In an interview with Prevention Magazine that same year, she spoke candidly about her relationship with a previously unnamed producer, praising him as “very good” with her sons. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a friendship-focused dynamic when in each other’s presence with the children, to minimize potential heartbreak should their relationship not work out. Fortunately, they had a strong foundation due to their 15-year-long acquaintance. There has been no reported announcement regarding when they ended their relationship, but by 2014, she was promoting her latest album, “Feels Like Home”, as a single woman.
