Find Ardaline Mage’s Staff for the Bravil Mages’ Guild Recommendation | Oblivion Remastered

As I step into the bustling Mages’ Guild hall, my eyes scan the crowd for an Argonian named Kud-Ei. I approach her and strike up a conversation about Ardaline, a fellow mage whose staff has mysteriously gone missing. Varon Vamori, another mage, is the prime suspect in this case, according to Kud-Ei. She then tasks me with tracking down Ardaline’s stolen staff, asking me to bring it back and clear her friend’s name if I can find it.

Next, your mission is to locate Varon Vamori and have a chat with him. Since he’s always moving around Bravil, you won’t find a specific location for him. However, following the quest should guide you to his whereabouts. You might encounter him at the guild hall, his house situated north of the guild hall, inside the chapel, or even at the Silverhome on the Water inn.

After locating Varon Vamori, aim to increase his Disposition to a minimum of 65 with him. Then, inquire about Ardaline. He’ll admit to his wrongdoing, revealing that he pilfered the staff and subsequently sold it to Soris Arenim in the Imperial City!

Before venturing off that path, make a detour to Kud-Ei initially. She’ll assign you the mission of retrieving the staff and providing you with some Beguile scrolls as backup.

Recovering the Staff

With our knowledge of Soris Arenim’s current location now, it’s high time we head back to the Imperial City. You can locate his residence in the Talos Plaza District, as shown on the map above. If you’ve been following the quest, his house should already be marked on your map for easy navigation.

Once you enter Soris Arenim’s house, you have two options for recovering the staff.

One approach could be to talk straightforwardly with Soris himself. By raising his trust level to at least 70 points, you can then inquire about Ardaline’s staff. He might admit he has it, but he’d rather sell it to you for 200 Gold. If you prefer a hassle-free solution, simply pay him and acquire the item.

You might choose to take the key to Soris Arenim’s house and grab the staff yourself. You can find this key on his desk upstairs, or if stealth is your preference, consider pickpocketing it from either Soris or his wife. However, be aware that Soris may follow you closely within the house once he notices it missing.

Just a heads-up, you can manage to open both the basement’s door and the drawers through Open Lock or lockpicking methods. Nevertheless, it’s significantly more challenging compared to simply obtaining the key.

Using Soris’ key you’ve got, sneak into the house’s basement when Soris is distracted. Fortunately, he won’t follow you there. In the basement, locate some drawers stacked with books on top. Open these drawers using Soris Arenim’s Key and retrieve the Mage’s Staff hidden inside!
