Y&R Shocker: Allison Lanier OUT! Why She’s Leaving

Allison Lanier‘s time on The Young and the Restless is coming to an end.

On April 30th, it was revealed that the actress portraying Summer Newman in the CBS daytime drama has decided to depart from the series, marking nearly three years since her debut.

On this coming Friday, May 2nd, I will be airing my final episode on Young and Restless! This is what Allison shared on platform X, previously known as Twitter. She has enjoyed her experience and gained valuable insights, but now it’s time for her to expand in a new path.

The 34-year-old, who received a Daytime Emmy nomination for the first time last year, also expressed her gratitude to the Young and Restless fans who have stood by her.

In May of 2022, Allison became a part of the series, taking on the role of the daughter for previously established characters Phyllis Summers (played by Michelle Stafford) and Nick Newman (portrayed by Joshua Morrow). She stepped into this position after Hunter King, who had been intermittently on the show from 2012 to 2022.

The character was initially portrayed by different child actors starting from 2006. As Summer grew into her teenage years, Lindsay Bushman took over the role of the character who hails from Genoa City in 2009. Later on, the role was given to Hunter.

In 2018, Summer was briefly recasted, with Bayley Corman taking on the role in a one-month stint.

Allison’s departure comes after several significant departures within the ‘Young and the Restless’ cast. Soap opera stalwart Colleen Zenk recently concluded her one-year role as Jordan Howard, with her last scene being a January episode where her character met an untimely end by drinking a toxic cup of tea.

For over 200 episodes, Trevor St. John had portrayed the character of Tucker McCall, a wealthy tycoon. However, by June 2024, he decided to part ways with the series, concluding his long-term role in it.

In simpler terms, he wrote that just as Tuckers come and go, this is his time to leave, referring to a specific instance on X. He expressed gratitude towards every member of the cast, crew, directors, producers, and production staff, as well as CBS/Sony for providing him with an exceptional experience from the beginning until the end. He feels incredibly lucky to have portrayed such a fantastic role.
