Last June, Yacht Club Games disclosed that Shovel Knight Dig would eventually arrive on PlayStation and Xbox platforms; however, they didn’t provide a release date at the time. Since then, there have been no additional updates. But now, an exact launch date has been unveiled, and it seems we won’t have to wait much longer!
Yacht Club Games has revealed that Shovel Knight Dig will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One in just a few weeks, specifically on May 15th. It’s puzzling why there’s no PS4 version planned, considering the game is also coming out for Xbox One.
Today, I’m excited to share that as part of the same day’s drop, Yacht Club Games is unleashing the second major free update for my game, titled “Wicked Wish”. This update brings a fresh batch of Relics, beefs up the boss encounters, enhances localization, squashes bugs, and more. Can’t wait to jump back in and explore the new content!
In our assessment of “Shovel Knight Dig”, we gave it a rating of 9 out of 10, praising it as an innovative take on the franchise despite not straying too far from its traditional gameplay. The unique aspect is that you must use platforming moves to navigate vertically and advance. Despite this change, Shovel Knight’s core gameplay remains as smooth as ever. Moreover, the narrative and progression systems in “Shovel Knight Dig” are well-designed, offering a non-intrusive experience that encourages you to keep playing just one more time.
