At present, not many stars in Hollywood are shining as brilliantly as Michael B. Jordan. His captivating performances in films such as Creed, Black Panther, and Just Mercy have been nothing short of extraordinary. In Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, he has given a performance for the ages, portraying the Smokestack Twins. With the global phenomenon that is Sinners, Jordan finds himself among the top-tier actors in today’s industry. This makes it an ideal moment to revisit the movie that catapulted him into stardom – a film that will undoubtedly remind you of his extraordinary talent.
Coincidentally, as the second week of its box office record-breaking run ends, Jordan’s first major film role – found in the 2012 sci-fi independent movie “Chronicle,” directed by Josh Trank (who later cast Jordan in his 2015 “Fantastic Four” remake) – has just been added to Max’s streaming platform, perfectly timed.
In the early stages of my acting journey, I made a name for myself on television, garnering exceptional praise for my portrayal in the inaugural season of “The Wire,” a series now available to stream on Max. Additionally, my work on “Friday Night Lights” also left a lasting impression. Then came the pivotal moment with “Chronicle,” which catapulted me onto the silver screen and positioned me as one of the promising talents that the industry is eagerly watching.
Chronicle, a movie made using found footage, revolves around three close friends who acquire supernatural abilities, has been cherished by fans since its initial release. Interestingly, this film was recently added to Max’s collection on Thursday morning, coincidentally appearing alongside another one of Jordan’s earliest roles in cinema, marking a return to his early career.
The action-drama set during World War II, focusing on the Tuskegee airmen known as “Red Tails”, has been added to Max. Similar to the movie Chronicle, Red Tails was released in theaters in 2012, but Jordan’s role in this film wasn’t a leading one.
What’s New on MAX?
As a cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that not just Chronicle and Red Tails, but a whole bunch of movies have been added to my collection to welcome the month of May.
