Fans of the series “Origins” can take comfort in knowing that one of their beloved characters will return for Season 2. The co-showrunners, David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal, have given a few hints about where the narrative is going following the conclusion of Season 1.
Enthusiasts can look forward to seeing a significant amount of Caleb Foote in the upcoming season, as showrunners have consistently been brainstorming ways to incorporate more of his character. In fact, they’ve never found an episode where they thought there was too much of Randy, so expect plenty of him in the new installment!
I can’t help but marvel at the talent of each actor in NCIS: Origins. They are truly extraordinary! The characters have become so vivid, it feels like they leap off the pages when I read the scripts. Gina’s writing is particularly captivating, and I eagerly await every opportunity to work with this fantastic cast again.
In NCIS: Origins Season 2, Special Agent in Charge Cliff Wheeler, who leads the NIS’s Pendleton Office and is played by Patrick Fischler, is expected to have his backstory explored further. As a character we left many unanswered questions about, we are excited to delve deeper into his storyline in the upcoming season.
In 1991, NCIS: Origins – the sixth addition to the NCIS collection – serves as a prequel to the original series. It focuses on Austin Stowell’s early days as a probationary agent within the team. The show also explores his emotional journey following the tragic murder of his wife and daughter, an event that significantly impacted his life. NCIS: Origins made its debut on October 14, 2024, and was given a second season greenlight in February 2025.
NCIS: Origins Showrunners Tease New Characters
Given that this story is a prequel, it presents numerous thrilling possibilities for the series to depict beloved characters from earlier periods in their lives, as well as introduce new agents. This idea has been touched upon by both North and Montreal. North stated, “We’re always open to that.” He further added, “We understand how exhilarating that can be for fans, and as NCIS enthusiasts ourselves, it’s just as exciting for Gina and me.
We constantly keep an eye on the matter, and it’s indeed feasible. Please refrain from contacting me regarding Jenny Shepard. I’m well-informed about her whereabouts, as well as Gina.
“Fornell is tricky to resurrect due to canon constraints, but we admire him and the actor who played him. We believe he truly excelled in the role,” Monreal also mentioned.
NCIS: Origins Season 1 is streaming on Paramount+.
