Actor Richard Armitage has been chosen for the narration role in the audiobook adaptation of Lisa Jewell’s latest suspense novel, Don’t Let Him In. He will be using his voice to portray a “dangerously charismatic” individual who disrupts and upends the lives of two females.
‘He appears to be the ideal man. He professes his love for you, and you believe he could be tailor-made for you. Soon enough, he’s made himself at home in your house – and within your heart.’
As a devoted cinephile, I can relate when a character mysteriously vanishes for extended periods. I have no clue about their whereabouts or companions, and it often leaves me questioning – had I noticed the signs earlier, would I have warned myself not to welcome them back into my world?
In this production, the charismatic antagonist, Nick, is portrayed by Armitage, while Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt takes on the role of his mysterious spouse, Martha, who initially has no suspicions about him.
As a movie buff, I’m thrilled to share that Tamaryn Payne, renowned for her role in Baldur’s Gate III, takes on the character of Ash. Ash is the daughter of a woman who has recently lost her spouse, and I find myself drawn to her, much like Nick does. The talented Gemma Whelan (The Tower), Louise Brealey (Sherlock), and voice actor Patience Tomlinson are also part of this intriguing cast.

Jewell excitedly shared that it was delightful to learn Richard showed interest in portraying Nick. Richard, being inherently charming and charismatic, has the ability to convey both the overt appeal and the subtle hints of Nick’s manipulative nature – making him an ideal fit for the role.
I’m delighted that both Joanne Froggatt and Tamaryn Payne have agreed to lend their voices once more for my upcoming audiobook. They did a fantastic job with “The Night She Disappeared” and “The Family Upstairs,” bringing those stories to vibrant life.
As a movie reviewer, let me express my conviction: This stellar cast is poised to deliver an audiobook performance that will transport listeners into a captivating world, an experience I am confident will leave a lasting impression on my audience.
Armitage stated: “The narrative by Lisa was incredibly captivating, and I found it immensely enjoyable to create Nick as a character – he truly embodies the essence of a perfect antagonist. This tale has such a cinematic quality, I’m confident that enthusiasts of this genre will find it delightful.
