Everything new in Microsoft Teams from April 2025

Monthly updates are added to Microsoft Teams, making it challenging to stay current due to its availability on various operating systems and device types. Thankfully, Microsoft compiles all these updates into a handy monthly summary.

A number of the characteristics mentioned subsequently became accessible to certain users from March onwards, but weren’t broadly available yet. Additionally, the list contains innovative features like the improved navigation within Teams for OneDrive.

DVR in Microsoft Teams town halls

Although Microsoft’s Pete Daderko initially talked about improved navigation in OneDrive, what truly caught my interest is the inclusion of Digital Video Recording (DVR) functionality for town hall meetings.

From my perspective, when participating in a town hall meeting via Microsoft Teams, whether through the web or desktop application, I have the ability to temporarily halt the content flow. Afterward, I can skip backward or forward at my convenience, allowing me to revisit any missed details.

Because town hall meetings are usually held in real-time, the capability to pause and navigate freely is a thoughtful enhancement. Although this function isn’t unique to Microsoft Teams, it certainly adds to its appeal as an improvement.
