Ever since RuneScape: Dragonwilds quietly launched into Early Access, gamers have been clamoring for concrete details about its development plan. While Jagex disclosed a broad overview from the start, pinning down specific timelines for the Dragonwilds roadmap has been challenging. The latest v.0.7.3 update was rolled out, but it primarily focused on ironing out bugs and enhancing a few quality-of-life aspects. However, players in the official Runescape: Dragonwilds Discord recently received some additional insights into future updates for the game, including clarification on features that were teased during the player survey.
As part of the RuneScape: Dragonwilds community, Mod Doom (one of our community managers on Discord) has revealed some thrilling details about the game’s future following the release of version 0.7.3. Now that this update is behind us, the team is now focusing on the more substantial changes coming with version 0.8, which will incorporate several significant new features into our Early Access game.
In the upcoming 0.8 version of RuneScape: Dragonwilds, players can anticipate some long-awaited features such as the Magic Skill Tree, advancements in XP progression, and fresh Skill Spells. There’s more to come, with further details to be disclosed later. Jagex is also planning its first significant content update during Early Access, which will introduce the new Fellhollow region. The release date for this major update remains undisclosed, but a recent survey has shed light on the timing for introducing additional armor options in the game.
When Will Mirthril Armor Come to RuneScape: Dragonwilds?
As Mod Doom also announced some exciting new updates, he also presented a survey that generated several discussions in our chat. More specifically, Jagex is considering the upcoming armor advancement for the next update in RuneScape: Dragonwilds. To gather player opinions, Jagex posed a question asking whether they should continue with the traditional RuneScape armor progression by introducing Steel armor followed by Mithril, or if they should jump straight to the more legendary armors instead.
This sparked a significant discussion within the chat, as Community Manager Mod Doom intervened to clarify matters after players voiced their concerns. Initially, the wording of the poll had caused some players to think they would be bound to choose between Steel and Mithril permanently. However, the revised phrasing makes it clear that Mithril armor will indeed be added to RuneScape: Dragonwilds, albeit at a later time.
Mithril/Steel tier update is confirmed to be months away

After viewing the survey, many gamers expressed curiosity about the upcoming armor update and the specifics of Mithril armor. Fortunately, they received a lot of clarification on these topics. Jagex is contemplating omitting Steel armor from the sequence to reach Mithril more quickly, but they want to gauge player opinions before taking any hasty actions. In simpler terms, Mithril will be introduced regardless of whether players decide to include Steel in the process. Additionally, requesting Steel won’t affect when Mithril appears; it’s just about determining the most effective sequence for how things will work within the game itself.
Players are pleased that Mithril is joining the game soon, but they’re slightly disheartened as the armor upgrade isn’t expected until several months from now. For those who have exhausted all current content, this wait seems prolonged for additional armor choices. However, it appears that update 0.8 will introduce some new content to the game alongside bug fixes and enhancements, similar to the first few patches we’ve experienced so far.
