Insider Secrets to Betting on the 2025 Kentucky Derby: Expert Tips Revealed!

Get your bets in—the 2025 Kentucky Derby is quickly approaching.

2,000 horses and their 1,200 handlers are gearing up for one of the year’s major sporting events on May 3. Experts from FanDuel, who serve as the official sports betting partner for Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby, are offering valuable advice and strategies for both watching and wagering on this significant race, according to FanDuel TV Racing Analyst Michael Joyce, who referred to it as “the world’s most significant race.

In her exclusive interview with TopMob News on Kentucky Oaks Day, Joyce shared that it’s a worldwide occurrence she’s referring to. Specifically, this event captures global attention as it’s the only day when everyone’s eyes are on American horse racing throughout the year.

Simultaneously, as nineteen horses speed around the track during the major race, some spectators will find themselves deeply engrossed due to having wagered their hopes on the horse they believe will win.

Joyce explained, “This sport is quite straightforward – whoever crosses the finish line first takes the prize. There isn’t a special formula for knowing which horses will excel on race day. Remember, we’re dealing with 1,000-pound animals, guided by 110-pound jockeys. They make their own decisions.

Given that only around 20 horses among the almost 20,000 contenders manage to qualify for the derby annually, each horse and its trainer has a unique tale. Notably, FanDuel is focusing on a select group of these horses, including Simon Bray, Gabby Gaudet, Anthony Pascale, and Christina Blacker.

According to Bray, there’s a horse named Cold Battle that is trained by Lonnie Bradley. It’s worth mentioning that this 70-year-old horse trainer is facing some tough competition. He’s simply a Midwest cowboy, and it seems he’s a bit overwhelmed in this setting.

Simultaneously, Steve Asmussen – who is training horses Tiztastic and Publisher for the upcoming race – has triumphed in virtually all major races, but unfortunately, he hasn’t yet claimed victory at the Derby.

In my expertise as a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d like to share an intriguing piece of information about a remarkable figure in the world of horse racing. This 59-year-old individual is not just any trainer; he’s the most prolific in history, boasting over 10,000 wins! Although he hasn’t claimed victory at a Derby, his unparalleled success across the racetracks has earned him this esteemed title.

How do horse trainers at various skill levels get ready for the crucial day of a major race, you ask? Let me share some insights from Terry Finley, proprietor of West Point Thoroughbreds, who has offered a glimpse into this meticulous procedure.

From 4:30 a.m., trainers begin their duties by tidying up the stalls, followed by feeding and exercising the horses. After that, they prepare their racing horses for transport to the racetrack. There, a veterinarian examines them and gives the go-ahead for them to compete.

Finley explained to TopMob, “They have a large bed for resting and they’ve prepared their meal,” he continued, “By 10 o’clock, only one task remains: ensuring the horses are calm and content before the intense race. They are given excellent care.

On this coming Saturday, the 151st edition of the famous Kentucky Derby will be broadcast, starting from 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time or 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time, on both NBC and Peacock streaming platforms.
