I’m Frustrated You’s Final Season Never Solved This Love Quinn Mystery From 6 Years Ago

Warning: This article includes SPOILERS for You season 5!

Despite finding season 5 of “You” quite engaging, I’m dismayed that the series finale didn’t resolve a six-year-old Love Quinn mystery. After a seven-year run, the Netflix thriller has concluded, with Joe Goldberg finally incarcerated. Although he may have new targets for his affection and correspondence from fellow inmates, his murderous spree is over. It would have been more fulfilling to see Bronte take him down, as initially planned by the showrunners, but at least now he can’t physically harm any more women from prison.

Thankfully, Joe’s arrest brings justice for many of his victims, including his former wife who has passed away. Although I firmly believe that Love Quinn was equally culpable as Joe, I find solace in the fact that Dottie Quinn finds closure regarding Love and Forty’s deaths in “You.” However, tying in Love’s death leaves me wondering about a mystery from season 2 that “You” never managed to unravel.

I’m Still Wondering What Happened To Candace’s & Delilah’s Bodies In You

Love Quinn Refused To Tell Joe Where She Hid The Bodies

In the finale of season 2 of “You”, Love takes the lives of both Delilah and Candace by cutting their throats. Although Love does not relocate Delilah’s body on camera, she places Candace’s corpse in the trunk of her car covered with a tarp. However, this is the last time her body appears onscreen. The matter of their bodies resurfaces in season 3 of “You”, as Joe inquires about what happened to them, to which Love suggests it would be best for him not to know.

In a different phrasing, Love’s delivery of the line suggests that she might be using the unknown location as leverage to control Joe’s actions. If he strays too far from her or betrays her excessively, she could potentially implicate him in their potential murders. Yet, the mystery surrounding Love Quinn and the hidden location never resurfaces again in the storyline.

Love Quinn Probably Didn’t Dispose Of The Bodies By Herself

You Seasons 2 & 3 Prove Love Quinn Doesn’t Know How To Handle Dead Bodies

If it was Joe who got rid of the bodies, I’d be intrigued to know what happened to Delilah and Candace, but I wouldn’t feel as anxious about not knowing. Given his past actions, Joe has shown he can deal with dead bodies in multiple ways. However, despite her history of violence and murder, Love Quinn doesn’t strike me as the type who could dispose of a body.

In the second season of “You,” Love becomes distraught when Joe disposes of Sofia, their au pair, in a gruesome manner involving a meat grinder. In the third season, Love struggles with managing dead bodies, as evident when she’s unable to handle Natalie Engler’s body. As a result, she seeks Joe’s assistance when she can’t figure out what to do with Natalie. When compelled to assist, she shows obvious discomfort and tries to minimize her involvement. Given these actions, it appears doubtful that Love Quinn would have concealed them effectively enough for them to remain undiscovered for several years.

You Season 5 Had The Perfect Opportunity To Solve The Mystery

Dottie Quinn Could Have Revealed That Her Family Helped Cover Up Candace & Delilah’s Deaths

The primary theory suggesting what became of Candace and Delilah is that Love concealed their bodies using her family’s resources, a notion I find plausible. Given that the series You reintroduces past characters in season 5, Dottie Quinn could have provided confirmation through dialogue. Regardless of whether she was aware of her daughter’s involvement, Dottie would likely have accused Joe of the deaths of Candace and Delilah.

If Love Quinn truly managed the situation independently, there was still an opportunity for a subtle nod towards what transpired between them. Since their demise occurred some time ago, their bodies might not be discoverable in “You” season 5, but incorporating a news broadcast about police locating the remains of two individuals near Anavrin would have been fitting. Given that Love visited Anavrin following the placement of Candace’s body in her car, such an inclusion could have provided closure to the mystery. Ultimately, it would have been satisfying for “You” season 5 to resolve this enigma rather than leaving viewers in suspense.
