In a future “Star Wars” film, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, we’ll see Rey again. Many contenders have arisen for her role within the New Jedi Order. The story, set 15 years after “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” will follow Rey as she trains a new generation of Jedi following her adoption of the Skywalker name. This film promises to introduce fresh Jedi characters and mark the beginning of a new chapter in the “Star Wars” saga.
In contrast, Rey’s New Jedi Order needn’t begin anew, for it can draw from a pool of existing Star Wars characters who might become part of its force. This includes characters with known Force sensitivity still alive, those yet to meet their end, and characters slated for future Star Wars productions that could potentially interact with Rey’s storyline. Herein lies a list of 32 potential members of Rey’s New Jedi Order, ranging from galactic-altering figures to subtle hints in the narrative.
34. Uvell
First Appearance: “The End of History” (Star Wars Insider 154)
Jedi Master Uvell, a survivor of Order 66, debuted in the story “The End of History” by Alexander Freed, which was initially published in Star Wars Insider issue 154. He gathered important Jedi relics and handed them over to a dealer named Antron Bach, who went into seclusion on a Geonosian settlement. The exact duration of Uvell’s life after Order 66 remains undisclosed, leaving room for his potential appearance in future tales.
33. Rowan Freemaker
First Appearance: LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures (Non-Canon)
In the animated series, LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, Rowan Freemaker was a young individual with Force sensitivity who underwent Jedi training. Although this series doesn’t strictly fall within the established Star Wars timeline, it shares close ties with it, often referred to as “canon-adjacent.” Notably, the book, Star Wars: Droidography by Marc Sumerak, has acknowledged R0-GR as a canon character, and Leland Chee, who oversees the Star Wars Databank, hints that characters like Rowan Freemaker could potentially become part of the canon.
32. Temiri Blagg
First Appearance: Star Wars: The Last Jedi
In a more recognized role as “Broom Boy,” Temiri Blagg played a crucial part in assisting Finn and Rose Tico’s escape from Canto Bight, as depicted in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The closing scene portrayed him employing the Force to snatch a broom, which created an illusion of a Jedi wielding a lightsaber. Had events unfolded according to Colin Trevorrow’s original script for Episode IX, titled Star Wars: Duel of the Fates, Temiri and the other orphans from Canto Bight would have been the first pupils at Rey’s Jedi academy.
31. Oppo Rancisis
First Appearance: Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace
During the Star Wars prequel era, Oppo Rancisis served as a Jedi Master and was part of the Jedi High Council. In the original timeline, he was slain towards the end of the Clone Wars, but his story took a different turn in the current continuity. The comic book series Star Wars: Darth Vader (2017) #19 reveals an Imperial roster of suspected Order 66 survivors, and among them is listed Oppo Rancisis.
30. Coleman Kcaj
First Appearance: Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith
Coleman Kcaj served as a Jedi Master during the Clone Wars and survived the Jedi Purge, much like Oppo Rancisis. As one of the known survivors listed in “Star Wars: Darth Vader” (2017) #19, it’s plausible that Kcaj might have continued living into the New Jedi Order era.
29. Ka-Moon Kholi
First Mentioned: Star Wars: Darth Vader (2017) #19
As a movie enthusiast, I must admit that my knowledge about Ka-Moon Kholi is scanty, largely due to the fact that they were only mentioned in Star Wars: Darth Vader #19 (2017) as a survivor of Order 66. Interestingly, their name is a tribute to Giuseppe Camuncoli, the artist who worked on that very issue.
28. Selrahc Eluos
First Mentioned: Star Wars: Darth Vader (2017) #19
In the 19th issue of “Star Wars: Darth Vader” (2017), Selrahc Eluos is introduced as another surviving Jedi, a character that was also incorporated into the artwork by penciler Giuseppe Camuncoli. Writer Charles Soule initially thought about incorporating this Jedi in the “Star Wars: Legacy of Vader” comic series.
27. Karr Nuq Sin
First Appearance: Star Wars: Force Collector
In the novel “Star Wars: Force Collector” by Kevin Shinick, set two years prior to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, we are introduced to Karr Nuq Sin. He started experiencing visions when he came into contact with specific items, embarking on a journey that ultimately led him to his great-grandfather, the former Jedi Padawan Naq Med, who passed away tranquilly following their meeting. Over time, Karr took up the role of collecting Jedi artifacts, a skillset that would prove crucial to Rey’s New Jedi Order in the future.
26. Finn
First Appearance: Star Wars: The Force Awakens
In the hypothetical scenario of Rey forming her New Jedi Order, it’s plausible that Finn, who was revealed as Force-sensitive in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” would be one of the first recruits. This notion is hinted at in both the movie and the non-canonical “LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special,” where Rey is shown training Finn as a Jedi. While John Boyega has expressed some reservations about reprising his role in “Star Wars,” there’s a 15-year gap that could provide ample opportunity for exploring their relationship further through other media.
25. Jannah
In Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Finn’s interaction with Jannah implies she might possess Force abilities as well. When ordered to fire on civilians, Jannah and her entire trooper unit chose not to shoot, and later, Finn assisted her in understanding that the sensation driving this act was the Force. While it remains unclear if she can use it like a Jedi, there’s always a chance.
